Royal Oak, East Lavantback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
This is the most perfect country pub. First class food and a tremendous wine list. Set in one of Sussex's finest villages. Highly recommended !

A restaurant with a pub bar, Skinner's ale always a welcome treat, over-fancified to be called a pub really, food is good generally - potent pricing a possibility - Lavant is nice enough, pub position offers little in terms of views or outside relaxation.

ok pub, but frequented by the type of hoorays that think they own the place, just because your not a regular they try as hard as possible to obstuct your passage to and from the bar, not a nice experience

Not exactly a pub but a real treat all the same. Worth visiting just for the Royal Oak's own special marinated olives, prepared to a closely guarded recipe, but nothing that follows disappoints. Cracking food, excellent wines, including many by the glass, beers from the barrel, proper good service. Not cheap, but tremendous value all the same. Downside: can get noisy in the evening. myPetersfield recommends it as a top spot for a long lazy lunch, maybe followed by a stroll round Chichester.

Lavant once had three great pubs. The Royal Oak is now a "gastropub" i.e. it can charge over 10 for a posh sandwich. Overpriced but still tasty. Not a place to go for a few drinks, as they prefer people to eat.

Very pretty pub which has unfortunately been restaurant-ified. The food is undeniably excellent but the prices are astronomic!
