It's a certainty that this pub won't be reopening. The bits that haven't suffered from fires and vandalism are approaching dereliction.

I for one am sorry. It's very many years since I last drank there, but the beer was always top notch and the place was full of "characters" whom you interacted with or ignored. It was a rare example of spit and sawdust, but friendly, lively and always a rewarding visit at a time when Luton pubs were sh**e. I hope it reopens and is true to its old roots if it does.

I agree with the cliquey bit. The beer is usually fabulous, but don't bother to go unless you take your own company. Nice genuinely old and quirky decor.

A fine ale house and a good local. Lots of different beers.

It has never been one of my favourate pubs, being very cliquey. It is easy for CAMRA to wobble too and is suitably rewarded. The beers can be good and interesting. Avoid quiz nights unless you are prepared to sit silently . The fans are all covered with cardboard and, at times it can be used to smoke kippers especially if the wind is in the wrong direction and the fire is smoking.

Good quality beer, ever changing. Opening times as per GBG, NOW. No meals served. But beer makes up for it.

Interesting punters & the beer isn't bad either. Some of the bikers are hard nuts though they'll go fer yer ankles and then seal the contract.

Runner-up for South Bedfordshire Pub Of The Year 2002 and for 2003, just been awarded Pub of the Year for 2004. A well deserved and long overdue award. Friendly local with a fantastic ever changing range of guest beers. Hoegaarden and Leffe Blonde on draught. Watch out for the pickled eggs, they bite back.

Now a free house with upto 6 beers usually including two Tring beers. Has draught Leffe blonde and Hoegarden available.

Fantastic backstreet buzzing boozer that one longs for in every town. Once a Banks and Taylor tied house, now Tring Brewery have kept up this great tradition. Many guest beers and bottled ones too. GO. NOW!

A gem! Runner-up for South Bedfordshire Pub Of The Year 2002. A Tring brewery tied house, the young enthusiastic landlord keeps two Tring beers plus up to 4 guests mainly from microbreweries. I enjoyed Wickwar and Burton Bridge bitters amongst them. A good range of Belgian beers stocked, including Leffe Blond. A warm welcome awaits beer drinkers from far and wide. A lively front bar contrasts with a more sedate rear bar. Music festivals featuring rock/blues bands once a month on a Saturday. Juke box with a wide range from 70s to 90s dance music. No food except crisps, nuts etc. Out of three pubs visited last night in Luton this one is the best. The pub has a well-deserved entry in Camra's Good Beer Guide. Go and see for yourselves!!
