Knocked down for re-development April 2012
|
never been to this pub, but I did feel a bit sad when I found out it had been demolished to make way for Altair (if it is still to be called that). It is sat on the edge of a road, so surely it could have been kept as wouldn't have obstructed the development? If they can keep old and new together in Manchester city centre then surely they could do it in Alty. That said, the clientele looked rough as old boots, judging by those outside whenever I drove past.

Pub is not only closed but demolished and the site levelled. Coming soon: "leisure facilities including an ice rink, homes, offices, shops, restaurants and cafes and a 500-space underground car park". But no new pub.

THIS PUB IS NOW CLOSED!

Great to see beatbarmaid speaking the ancient and almost lost Altrincham dialect there. I thought it had died out. Quite difficult for speakers of standard Lancastrian to understand due to its irregular spelling and incomprehensible sentence structure, but encouraging to see old traditions thriving in this way.

I've been to the Bridge in Altrincham and have to admit that it was an experience. A good experience I hasten to add!
The locals were all very friendly, although some were more friendlier than others!
My mate Jason was bummed in the toilets. He said it was fantastic!

I've never been to this pub, I've never even noticed it but it sounds like an entire comedy documentary could be filmed about it. It makes me want to visit to have a good chuckle.
|
to true.. its full of wasters/tramps/ex-cons/alki's/local scally's etc
|
Probably the dirtiest pub in Altrincham. Full of old men and people trying to scrounge a few pence to buy a pint. I needed a bath when i got home. Whoever wrote the comment below is obviously illiterate, which fits in well with this place. Awful.

Scarey landlady rather choice language but otherwise nice bar staff, Lee needs his hair cutting the cleaners not the best but she makes a smashing cup of coffee.

Smashin little pub cracking pool team and the captains a hell of a nice bloke.

A City pub......Outside of Manchester, surely not.I thought they all lived within sight and sound of the clock tower on Manchester Town Hall. Still it's a better pub than it looks from the outside and somewhere to kill an hour or so when the missus us in Tesco. Certainly a stop off on the way from the Station End toward the Downs end of Alty

Butcombe Blond real ale at 1.75/pt. A good pint too! Has a TV
|
Probably the the most unpretencious pub in Alty. Good ale and not pricey. I have always enjoyed this pub and its characters, and would recommend a visit.
|
Proper pub. Good prices, cheap pool and some real characters
|
This pub is quality. One of the best in Alty. No trouble in here whatsoever. Karaoke on a Saturday night is class.
