About the fifth time I have eaten here and have always had high praise. Not this time. We had a Sunday lunch and it was worse than a school dinner. Extremely poorly cooked and presented with watery gravy and roast potatoes that had been finished off in the deep fat friar. What a let down after high expectations. I can only assume it is under new management after the last time I ate here (about three months ago). Needless to say I will not return.

Truly excellent gastro pub. I'd read a very complimentary article on the pub in (I think) the Daily Telegraph and thought I must visit one day. Today we nabbed the last empty place in the car park and went in. The place hummed with the wonderful smell of well cooked food and customers clearly enjoying their meals. I'm not sure I'd want to come here to drink as it really concentrates on food. Fresh crusty bread starters, then we chose the Walkers menu (12). Sheps Masterbrew and Late Red was fine. The mackerel was good but the Poached Plums and Cinemon Ice Cream was brilliant. Finished with good tasty coffee. Staff were friendly and efficient, we will certianly recommend this place to our friends and relative and will come again. 10/10.

Sunday lunch good - Spoilt only by chavey people letting their children play electronic games at the table and letting them run around making a noise. Maybe they should put the prices up to keep these sort of people out!
5.7 rating is about right still..

Fabulous pub with very friendly and accommodating staff! Great decor, love the fireplace especially. The beer was lovely....., great selection said my husband who happens to be a real lover of real ale and knows his beer!....., and the food was amaaaaazing. Go for a walk on Oare Marshes before or after lunch on a Sunday (we prefer walking beforehand to work up an appetite as the portions are very generous!). You will come back for more I promise!

It looks like the new owners here have made their mark. Good beer, tasty food and a friendly atmosphere. They're making the most of this characterful building. Thoroughly recommended.

This pub has just changed hands yet again. The new people look like they may get it right this time.
Beer fine food menu in its infancy but well worth a visit.

This pub was refurbished a couple of years ago; since then it has seen about three changes of tenant. While this is a lovely pub it still has not yet realized the its full potential.
