Popped in while passing on business for lunch. Really good pint of Hartleys and a first class carvery. Spotlessly clean too with friendly staff. I'll stop there again when I'm in the area

Could do better, accomadation is just ok, carvery acceptable, closed at 10pm ????????

Only just occurred whilst having a look at my old witterings. If Justgoodbeer always found the place closed how could he say if the pie was microwaved?

For anyone reading these reviews I worked there but left May 2006. The pie was homemade and the review below is real look at his other reviews as fornot being open when i was there it was open 7am till 11pm except sunday when it closed at 8pm

Its back! Its been a pub, a restaurant, a Little Chef and shut for quite a while but its now been refitted and reopened. I'm impressed. Decor a little bland but comfortable. Heart sank when I saw the array of eurofiz taps but there are three cask ales. Food very good and generously served. (The steak and ale pie is a real slice of pie rather than a dollop of casserole with an applied puff pastry lid.) Staff friendly and eager to please. As Arnie would say - I'll be back.
