Large Taylor Walker (Greene King) pub next door to the Mayflower and pub number 2 of our short hop in Leigh.
Wide frontage, with the long bar running down one side. On the bar are 2 banks of 4 hand pumps with a total of 4 different ales on, my pint of Bombardier was very drinkable though its not one of my favourite ales.
The back opens up into several separate dining areas and there’s a couple of stood up boats turned into booths on the back wall, very quirky.
It was half busy with drinkers at the front and diners to the rear, live football on the TV with the sound on mute so this deterred anyway watching the match here.
Nice enough pub, better than the Peterboat but not as good as the Crooked Billet.

Lovely pub with a really nice sun deck outside. You'd be hard pushed to find a better location. Good selection of beers including Doombar which was excellent. There were adverts for live music in the evening which wouldn't appeal to me but overall a very nice pub. They did a good selection of food but I'm more interested in the beer.

Quite dark inside but a nice Taylor and Walker pub, Usual beers and cider that were also very nice, Food looked good but didn't try. Would come again.

Visited on a Saturday night. Insufficent staff resulted in me leaving without buying a drink. Poor.

A decent pub with well kept cask ales. Very pleasant views over the Thames from within the pub or on the small balcony outside (and the balcony outside has also sensibly been kept non smoking due to people eating in the area). I called in at a quiet time in the afternoon but from that visit would recommend it.

I do hear that things are about to change as there is a new management team on the way who will be bringing this Great British Pub back to life! Watch this space, me thinks!

Good place with a nice selection of beers. Never had a bad time in the Olde Smack. If there is live music on its pretty good.

Despite the previous post, they don't seem to have live music every Thursday. I've often seen it advertised outside, but frequently it fails to appear. Strange that...

Ive never been one to allow the toilets effect my review too much. I mean Ive specifically come for a drink, not a tip out? This is the best pub in Old Leigh. You get served even in the summer and its got real character. They have a good jukebox, and personally I like the low lighting. Nice sea view from inside or out.

They've replaced some of the shabbier seating now thankfully. The toilet cubicles in the gents are still a disgrace, absurdly small and usually with no working locks.
|
Very dark old pub, to the point where it becomes quite depressing at times. It helps to disguise the rather shabby seating though! It backs on to the Thames, which can be pleasant in summer.

Great big pub, were you can sit and watch the tide come in, Food is quite good aswell. Lovely big pub.
