Looks like a traditional village pub from the outside, which sits rather oddly with its (edge of) town centre location. The imposing door from the side road leads to a small bar with some reasonably comfortable seating. However, the main bar at the front has a limited amount of basic wooden furniture (which is presumably easily moved for live entertainment events). I think that Greene King must have sold it on, but there are still plenty of traces of their former ownership around the place. There are also a number of selotaped notices announcing grandly that they have introduced a dress code. Still no real ale, but unlike my previous visit, I did at least get as far as ordering a pint of the taste-free IPA Chilled. This was bad enough, but the polycarbonate 'glass' put the icing on the cake. Drank up quickly, and left...

didnt get inside the door as i noticed no real ale

to say this pub is screwed up really just leaves me dumbfounded.. the guys running it have turned it into a little goldmine... plastic glasses are about public safety.. as this bar has a late licence and gets very busy.. i'd prefer to feel safe and use plastic glasses.. (high quality at that) i frequent this pub more than any other in bedford and feel at home every time... i'll really miss this place when i move!

Proof that you can take a pub and screw it up. Weird place, a small bar, a small 'lounge' and a small room just big enough for a pool table. Looks to be trying to be a music venue. No real ale and beer served in plastic glasses.

Looks like a traditional Greene King pub from the outside, but took one look inside - no real ale and a few unpleasant-looking punters - and left...

I would say it's full of women more than Men!

This pub used to be brilliant, unfortunately there have been numerous landlords/landladies since, all changing a bit here and there. It is now a typically male dominated, loud music bar. There is no atmosphere anymore - it used to be a traditional pub, with welcoming staff and you could have a good laugh. It has become a victim of the latest pub trend to destroy any character of the place and just play loud music and sell expensive beer, with no atmosphere whatsoever1
