ok... the food was reasonable ... but a sincere word of warning: make sure you ask for an itemised bill... just to be sure that you don't get /*/accidentally/*/ overcharged

On the Essex Way long distance path - 3 ales none of which I'd consider local. A stout from Greene King, an Adnams ale and one from Thwaites. Ornate pub with friendly enough staff.

Stumbled across this pub by chance whilst out on a ramble with a friend and was greatly impressed. The food was was homemade and freshly prepared. The Austrilian Manager/Barman was professional and highly organised and offered great customer service, which is something quite rare to find nowdays. A real treat and well worth a visit.

Had a christmas dinner there, we were the only people there and found clingfilm on our plate! The meat was dry so was likely to be microwaved - KEEP CLEAR

This is walking distance for me, never bother now, rude bar staff and warm beer, food still ok though.

My friend has seen an old rock star with a dodgy haircut in here with his mates but he never buys a round.

Excellent food, friendly staff and Black Sheep on tap. I'm in pub heaven! If only it were walking distance away - we always need a designated driver. :-(

Caters for the older rock stars too!

Great olde pub! Good people too! Cheers to everyone!

Old Style Country Pub excellent food both snacks and evening meals. No Juke Boxes or loud music, caters for the 40's 50's plus very good atmosphere throughout the year.
