This pub has changed name, and is now the Hog and Partridge. It's run by the same family as the Pig and Falcon so, unsurprisingly, it's a great pub. There's a wide and rotating selection of beer (with a few, but not all, from the brewery, Bateman's) that is very well looked after by John. It's a bit quieter than the Pig, fitting its location, but is a great spot for a quiet pint.

A nice little back street boozer that was never heaving but has unfortunately suffered more than most from the smoking ban and, in the last year the opening of the Pig n Falcon, with the result it's usually fairly empty and lacking in atmosphere. I hope the new landlords can make a go of it but on recent visits numbers don't appear to have picked up (single figures around 10pm on a Saturday). Beer was still good - some straight from the cask. If there's a group of you and you enjoy your beer, bring your own atmosphere and give it a go.

small side street pub, been there a few time and allways seems quite empty, therefore lacking atmosphere in my mind. but nice beer.

Since 1st February has changed management - evidently the new people are committed to good beer and good cheer, so give it a go.

Been there on a workday afternoon about three weeks ago, pub was more or less empty; they were preparing for their beer festival, which I sadly missed.
On the day of visit I had a lovely pint of Batemans XB , at least to more beers were available.
Very friendly welcome ; great to see two dartboards and lots of boardgames available as well.

St Neots has been short of truly good pubs for some years, the LJR is not exceptional but the best available in this town of ca 30,000 people - "best", that is, if you are interested in the simpler pleasures of good beer and a friendly welcome without too much extraneous racket. Has regular beer festivals - one of which is happening soon (24-27 September)

Backstreet local with a few real ales - Batemans XB, GHA and Wold Top A4 Amber. They also have a real cider - Westons Traditional Scrumpy during our visit. A welcome late substitution for the closed Chequers at Eynesbury!

Lovely, quiet pub serving at least 4 real ales at the pump and more by the bottle. Nice food, cooked fresh and generous portions. Bi-annual beer festival, next one is Sept 25-27 08. 16 ales & at least 2 ciders promised.

The LJR is having a beer festival this weekend. Starts Thursday 6/3/08 till Sunday

New landlord has improved everything in the pub, ambience, food and most of all the beer with at least four real ales on, at the moment including the excellent Batemans Salem Porter
