please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I visit this place quite often, the food is delicious, the staff are very friendly and it has a large car park at the front.
I have visited at weekends and in the week, the place is located around the corner from the duke of buckingham in High Street, Old Portsmouth and Abarbistro.
It is not the most lively of places but is rather pleasant for a beer in the evening and the prices are reasonable compared to Gunwharf and in Old Portsmouth.
Ignore the reviews above and pay a visit to this boozer if you want a beer or if you are coming for a sit down meal to experience the finest Chinese food outside of China.

Now Mary rose and dragon, according to the reviews i have seen, the bar has a lot of foul mouthed people and the main area is bad.

AS FAR AS I'M AWARE - THIS IS NO LONGER THE MARY ROSE PUB BUT NOW A CHINESE RESTAURANT.

Not a pub any more and a terrible restaurant! Dodge it or you will have a dodgy stomach!

Crikey I remember this place (not for a good reason either!) had a 2pm ferry to the isle of wight so poped in here for a bite to eat. My wife had a lasagne which was microwaved to within an inch of its life, it was so hard I recon that it could have broken the table had it been dropped on it. She was offered a replacement after it had sat on the table for 20 mins to which we said not thanks, oh ok then was the reply and they took the plate away. No offer of returning our money or even to say sorry. I had a burger & chips which then gave me food posioning which in turn ruined our weekend away as I was in the toilet most of the time. This was some time ago so I hope that it has improved but we have been to the island since and avoided this place like a bad case of the flu. Should have called the inviroment agency but im sure that they would have been called many times already! Avoid

Had an awful experience at the DRAGON bar & restaurant in St Georges road, PORTSMOUTH. The main meals were simply microwaved and everything else was just not fresh and poorly served by sweat dripping waiters. The manager was an awfully rude man to other female diners and embarrassingly forward to our party of ladies. All in all, a ruined evening for me and my guests. There has since been an article in the local paper that the DRAGON has one or two licensing issues. An alleged story of rats was noted and a confirmed case of cctv 'doctoring' has brought this establishment into rather bad repute lately. This has lead me to inform other patrons of my experience. Now please make your own minds up!
