I think its been renamed again. Went in a few months ago - the music was too loud or maybe im old. Full of nouveau riche/nouveau riche wannabes with short dresses and all miraculously blonde and had orange skin. Probably nice if you like that sort of thing - but not much cop if you are over 30

This place is now called the Hadley Oak.

It's a trendy bar and the only one I found on Barnet High Street with the need for a bouncer. It was busy and the staff were ok, but I prefer proper pubs so I can't see myself returning.

Bar Square has now closed. The good news is that there seems to be some renovation going on behind the whitewashed glass windows. Let's hope the new management keep the idiots out this time.

Was rather splendid as the George - shabby and with the same decor as it had in 1950, but that was part of the charm. Now The Square Bar, last time I was in there a bloke started hitting his pregnant girlfriend. Haven't been back.

Has gone downhill a bit in recent months. Gets fairly busy on Thurs/Fri/Sat nights, mainly because they seem to let anybody in at any time, regardless how impractical it is, and ends up causing trouble - last time I went there bouncers were arguing with some blokes at the door about starting a fight. Bar is too small and staff poorly trained - took me forever to get a drink - which no doubt adds to the problems. Not been back since.

Not really worthy of the name 'pub' since re-opening as 'The Square'. Now more of a trendy wine bar type place an no real ales last time I was there. They had a so called 'Rock Night' - with 'dress restictions' like 'no hats' - which showed how little the management understand of their potential clientelle... The 'Rock Night' was a one off experiment and died a death - not the right venue at all.

Weird place for a younger bar this - up the top of the High St, near Hadley Wood. Get's quite busy on Thu/Fri/Sat, but, unlike the Avenue down the road, seems to attract a slightly better class of drinker. Bouncers are OK (as bouncers go). Food's surprisingly good too. I'm a local resident to it, as well as a patron. They kept on leaving the doors open in the summer, with the music banging till gone 2am, which ain't no fun if you've gotta get up at 5 for work. Anyway, we moaned, and they stopped, so at least they listen a bit, unlike many other places nowadays.

Food's quite nice here. The place is pretty atmosphereless though and never has more than a couple of people there in the day. And that enormous big screen is a bit distracting.

Revamped and renamed (King George public House) - also does Thai food, nicely done out with leather seats and plasma tvs - for some reason always empty in the day - and rowdy with bouncers on a friday and saturday night. The staff are none to pleasant to ladies with babies who briefly stop in their car parks in cars too.
