We both found this to be a great - and proper - little boozer. The beers were all tried and all in good condition with the Ashover Rainbow's End being a particular favourite. Good selection of ciders too, although not tried (sadly). Called in on a cold November night and the fire was most welcome and the young landlord friendly. Would recommend if in the area.

Nice pub with occasional beer festivals (4 handpumps normally) and a good selection of ciders. Quality excellent, good staff too.

Good pub offering good beer and food nice place to visit.

Visited Matlock Bath on a busy Xmas Bank Holiday, but the pub itself was quiet at around 2pm. Very friendly young barman, two very good Ashover Ales as well as a guest from the brand-new Black Iris brewery in Derby. Small front area with bar off in one corner, big windows to watch the (biker) world go by.

Really enjoyed visiting this pub on holiday last week, called in on several occasions and sampled many different beers all excellent. Friendly staff & punters.

I don't see why this pub is listed with all the other pubs in Bath, Somerset, when it is miles away in Derbyshire.

Good little pub. Good selection of ales and worth a visit.
|
This is definately the pub to visit if you want to sample well kept local real ale. Great atmosphere in which to enjoy a magnificent pint. Highly recommended.

A large range of real ales on offer now. Some very good ones from local micros. There was a live music act on, which unfortunately takes up about a third of the floor space in this already small pub.
All in all, this is probably the best pick of the five pubs on the Parade.

Good news. This pub has recently been taken over by the owners of Old Poets Corner in Ashover which has its own micro-brewery. They have put the decor back to something more appropriate - stone floor and leather chesterfield style seating - and installed a range of their own beers. One Batemans beer was still available when a mate and I had a quiet evening there. Recommended.

Had a makeover a couple of years ago. Don't use it anymore.

The interior of this pub has been spoilt with a modern makeover. I guess it relies on passing trade in the summer, as there were only a couple of other customers here during our Sunday afternoon visit. No real ales were available as of yesterday. The only real plus is that it has a good central location.

It's alright. The staff were welcoming and very friendly I must admit. Unfortunately there was only one ale available, Bateman's XB, which couldn't top the quality of the XB at the Cross Keys in Belper. Quite a modern interior. I would certainly go back, and I'd probably try the food next time.

Ghastly. Stroppy bar staff; first beer ordered was undrinkable & had to be [reluctantly] replaced. LLoud rubbish music. Very grotty.
|
Perfect spot, open fire, chatty friendly barstaff. Welcoming locals...a proper old pub none of this new polished town bar feel to this.
|
Superb beer the Batemans xxxb was tip top condition a definate when next in the area.
|
Small and dingy but mostly redeemed by beer quality (Batemans pub) and fact that it doesn't get packed on a weekend with kids going to Pav nightclub nearby. Apparently has an upstairs reataurant, never been myself. Nothing special, but not bad either.
