I stumbled upon the Magpie & Stump pub opposite the Old Bailey. It has an interesting ale selection with 4 on tap when i visited - a very good pub.

By the look of it since the comments below, the pub has recently been revitalised - when I went there was a new "English" menu - decent beer and very good food. Recommended.

The Stagpie & Mump was truly horrid. It's now a 'style bar' from the fledgling Firefly group of high street style bars, for the discerning drinker who demands a little bit more style, when they are drinking stylishly.

Uninspring place, best avoided. Big with no soul. Went to a big party here once so to be fair I don't know what its like normally.

Only been in here a couple of times. Struck me as fairly unremarkable; has a pool table downstairs.
