SHOCKING! It appears there is yet another change of management in this pub and it is for the worse. Not having been in there for a while I popped in for a quick pint. The Fosters was as flat as a pancake and it is my understanding from some of the regulars that this has been the case for many weeks now. I spoke to the owner of the pub who told me there was nothing wrong with the lager. After a brief discussion on the quality of the pint I paid for it, left it on the bar and walked out. I will not be making the mistake of going back there again. The whole reason for going to a pub is to enjoy a good pint. I would get a better product from a cold tin which is a very sad indictment of this "pub".

What a dump, do you remember the Blue Oyster Bar in Police Academy? When two guys go into a bar and realise it was a big big mistake! This happened to us at the Magpie. Never known such a bad atmosphere, loads of CHAVS at the bar making stupid comments. A seriously dodgy place, steer well clear!!

Chav-ville, avoid. No real ale, barman didn't know what a single malt was.....

Great pub. Must have undergone a lot of staff and management changes since previous reviews... I would recomend this pub highly!

Great pub, lots of different things going on Karaoke, open mic nights, disco, poker. Good garden with covered smoking area and bbq for 1.
Friendly staff and locals one of the few pubs in Walton that has an atmosphere and staff speak to you.

I am afraid I dont agree. This is a great pub, with lovely sfaff and nice people to share a drink with. Love the weekend BBQ, 1 what a bargain! Always something on - football, DJ, live music... one of the friendliest pubs in this area. This pub has made a tremendous change. Love it there.

Maybe I found this pub on a bad night but as they say, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Only one bitter on offer and that was John Smiths. Clientel were very loud and most considerably the worse for drink and bad language abounded. It was an open mic night and the first couple of performers did their best to entertain the boorish patrons but the night soon degenerated into a drunken free for all. At one point there was a guy on stage swearing and singing bawdy rugby songs. My party decided to leave when a couple of the punters got up on stage and started howl like dogs over the hapless musicians trying to run the evening. The manager apologised as we left but I'm afraid he's not in control of his pub and I won't be going back.

It seems this pub is now full of 15 year olds.. Oh well time to try some where different

New manager seems to have got rid of all the idiots that once drank in there, went there on saturday night for a few drinks and was pleasently suprised at the generally good atmosphere and they had a fantastic dj playing some cool music, some good indie tunes mixed in with some 70's disco, an odd combination but it seemed to work. will be going back next week for the rock n' roll!

Another change of Manager has resulted in this little communtiy pub losing all it's custom.

Poped in there on the way back from work seemed like a nice place, one of the few I have come across with bar billiards.
