Obviously a popular place to eat, judging by the amount of people doing so when I visited. Guy behind the bar seemed surprised that I was only there for a pint.
Three ales on offer - Doom Bar, London Pride and Deuchars IPA. There was also a blackboard advertising upcoming beers. Not sure how many of the three rotate but there were some 'safe' changes to come.
A pint of Pride was around £3.70 from memory and decent enough. Pleasant in the big garden out back. Large play area too, set a decent enough distance back from most benches so as not to disturb other visitors and also to give kids plenty of space to run.

This pub has come a long way since the previous reviews in the respect of it's food - the meals we ate there were well cooked, well presented and delicious. Friendly staff who were happy to help, from a beer point of view only Sharps Doombar on handpump thought. This pub is in a rural location and as stated is a great stop off on a country walk or bike ride. The patio is a real sun trap at the side of the building and is a pleasent place to be on a summer's afternoon. Worth a try, also convenient for the Shuttleworth Collection, Swiss Garden and Old Warden Park.

Pretty pub, friendly staff, good choice of beer but let down badly by mediocre food.
The two meals took 50 minutes to arrive despite there being only about a dozen customers on a quiet Monday lunchtime. Chips were absolutely saturated in oil and looked like they'd been cooked at far too low a temperature and for too long. This is pretty basic stuff, yes ? The home-made chicken, bacon and mushroom pie was quite stingy on these contents, the bulk of it consisting of what I can only describe as gloop. The pastry lid appeared to have been frozen and reheated - not so much flaky but more the consistency of damp cardboard. I love a good pie but this was such a disappointment. Not all bad though - the peas and broccoli were cooked well and not overdone.
The food used to be OK a few years ago - not great, but OK. But that was then. It seems to have gone downhill in recent years.
This is a nice pub to stop off for a pint on a country walk. But I doubt I'll eat there again.

This used to be quite a lovely country pub that even had a well maintained miniature railway in the garden that included a tunnel and points !
It has now become a tawrdy restaurant orientated pub catering for young couples who do not yet know any better or stressed family groups and ... the railway has been dug up and dismantled.
The restaurant promises 'traditonal English faYre (be warned !) but delivers standardised food with an accountant's eye for profit margin and owes more to cost benefit analysis than it does to any vocational skills in the kitchen.
It does, however have one redeeming feature - the seats in the patio area are very comfortable with arms and a lovely rake on the back rest - so if you do go to this pub, go in the summer, don't eat anything but take your drink onto the patio and enjoy the beuatiful sunshine there.

The worst Sunday roast I have ever been served, even the kids meals were terrible. Only paid for the drinks.

Average food, mostly out of the freezer. Very poor chips. Reasonable setting. Service average.

Under new management, this atmospheric rural pub has a lovely garden and good eating facilities. Greene King IPA is excellent.
Service is perhaps a little slow but for me this is compensated for by the obvious attention to detail and a keenness to please and do a professional job.

went there for my birthday. Can't knock the food it was fantasti.c But service was really slow and a few other customers complained about the slow service and their meals being cold

We had lunch! The beer was standard. The food was a severe disappointment. I had the pie and cheese ploughmans - not much to go wrong there I thought. The bread was 6 tiny pieces of an old and stale french stick. The pie was very heavy on the very poor hot water pastry and the meat was bland. The edifice was topped with some very old and tired red currants. the salad was exhausted and limp and the celery was dirty and unwashed. My friend ordered the scampi and new potatoes and received an incorrect dish - when it was, eventually, replaced there were chips and 9 pieces of overcooked scampi once again accompanied by the dismal and unimaginative salad. Food was overpriced and a real disappointment.
By the time all this weas sorted out almost evceryuone had left and the charmless landlord was busy packing up around us. His staff were OK but inattentive.
The good garden is only wheelchair accessible from the rear car park,
This is a good pub gone bad - don't go.

Went to the White Horse last night and was disappointed. The food was mediocre and they crammed in a many tables as possible. We had no problem with service but a large group next to us had the wrong meals turning up. I wonder whether this pub has changed hands recently, but it now seems to cater to as wider group as possible and therefore nothing is particularly interesting. Avoid

Fantastic pub, has a lovely heated patio and garden, they do good food here, reasonable for drinks, friendly staff.

Absolutely amazing beer garden with patio heaters, good seating and decent play area, nice and secluded too. Lovely interior, friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks, really good atmosphere inside.
