I have always had a soft spot for this pub and I go in occasionally for a pint. They serve excelent Guinness and all the pints served are good quaility and clean glasses. It can be very noisy on sport days. The one issue I have and I am not a prude and I can swear with the best of them. What does annoy me is the management do not tell the punters to tone it down a bit. I can handle the odd F8ck or two swearing but there is some loud mouths in there that freely use the C8n t word. It really is quite unpleasant ans I don't think they realise how out of order and unacceptable it is. Like is said, I really like this pub.. however I want them to have a sense of decorum!

I had to attend a funeral nearby a month ago and was visiting over from Ireland and found this (Irish?) pub on Facebook which was not too far by train. The beer garden looked well kept and was adourned with lovely baskets and tubs. However when I tried to order a drink, the elderly barmaid was more interested in ignoring the customers waiting and continued to chat with a local. She also appeared to have consumed a large amount of the strong stuff herself,
The locals seemed pretty friendly, and all seemed to be talking above the volume of the many TV,s on the walls. (I think it's a sports type bar) as I was waiting, another stocky tall barman with glasses appeared who sounded Polish or Romanian, again seemed to be more involved in chating (loudly) to customers seated and also ignored waiting (Thirsty) people at the counter.
When I finally got a pint of beer, it tasted slightly odd and flat? As I waited so long for it I didn't want to complain. I can't rate this pub very high and now pleased I'm back in Ireland with a decent beer in date, served promptly and with more courtesy than The Prince Albert. - Not at all welcoming I'm sorry to say I won't be returning...

went in for a few pints after a christening, place was packed as Armv Navy rugby game. The guinness was poor however the Pride has got better. Great to watch gaelic sports as well as rugby, good atmosphere

Recently refurbished and even more cosy than before. Nice seating areas to have a drink and chat in. Even the fruit machine has it's own cladding so you don't see it from the bar !
Rugby friendly with a beer garden. Good place to call on the way to Twickenham. Especially if an Irish team is playing.
Great Irish Traditional session on Thursday nights starts about 10pm. One of the best sessions in SW London............

Charming little boozer, if not slightly cramped. Loads of paddys playing spontaneously with their diddly-diddly guitars, spoons etc.. great atmosphere

Before the smoking ban, it was possible to pick up lung cancer from just walking in the door. With the clean air, the charms of this old fashioned style boozer have come to the fore and it is a really nice place to go for a quiet pint, especially during the week. It has live Irish music on a Thursday which only adds to the ambiance and on all of my visits, the staff have been very friendly

Love this pub! Its small, smokey and full of locals but the bar staff are friendly (apart from the ugly trollope that is there some nights), Irish Music there on Thursday nights is free, and brilliant. It has a beer garden. What more could you want?

Pub is ok, but gets full of blokes in their late 30's and early 40's who think they are some character from the football film 'The Firm'.

Pub is ok, what do you expect if you walk in a pub, pubs do have �"locals" in, who are going to look at you and wonder where you are from.
Lots of first/second generation paddies drink there. Agree they are 10 times better then chav flith you get in the once great Nelson!

i think plastic paddy's are slightly better than a pub full of chav scum!!! the guinness as a result is best in area.
this pub is rough and ready, lots of longtime locals but the beer/lager is pretty good. the landlord knows how to run a cellar & keep the pipes clean. but landlord & staff haven't got the guts to keep there locals in order, as a result you will feel a little out of place in the albert - bullying big fish in a very small pond spring to mind. if your pondlife you'll fit in well, if your not then have the odd pint & watch the game then discretely leave in one piece.

Not a good place to go and have a quite drink. Landlord should be reported to RSPCA for keeping twolarge dogs on his roof area, They never ger any excerise.

An allright pub, definitely a locals one and if you knew the history of some of the locals, you would tread a little carefully with some. Most used to drink in the Nelson before it turned into a Chav infested sewer.
the Guinness in here is by far the best in the area.

This pub is the most unfriendly pub I have ever been in! It is full of Irish tinkers and plastic paddy's in Celtic tops who think they are all Irish because drink Guinness and who are very rude and spend all day at the bar staring at non locals! Avoid at all costs!

must say i rather like this place. friendly locals. good atmosphere. found it by mistake after drunkenly getting on the wrong bus but maybe thats fate? 8/10.

The type of person that refers to the clientele in this pub as Irish Tinkers probably labours under the mis-apprehension that all afro-carribeans are drug dealers and everyone that speaks with an accent is an asylum seeker or an illegal.
The truth be told, that with a small pub (or cosy if you prefer), with an Irish landlord it is highly unlikely that our travelling friends would even attempt to be served. It is far more likely that they would send out a "scouting party" to a larger pub with aabsentee landlord and inexperienced staff.

Mick is one of the most hospitable govenors in sw london he is generous and kind however they do show english soccer and gaelic hurling and football for teams from ulster and rep. of ireland and people come to watch their county play and trust me travellers aint into sport or music they do driveways with tarmac, also there is a traditional music and singing session on a thurs. night which many scots, american, canadian, irish, english people attend also the students from st. mary's uni. come here for a bit of fun and they are intelects not chav scum

Worst pub in the area. Full of Irish tinkers. Wall to wall TV. Lots of noise and smoke. Not reccomended.
