Ditto from Raj's comment really. Came here as I know they have a good well kept beer selection, without too many of the golden beers that I struggle with. Saw the beer pump badges and I was not disappointed. However, the indifference eminating from behind the bar was such that you could almost chew it. Will down my (excellent) pint of bass, and find a more friendly pub with (probably) inferior ale.

This pub does't look much from the outside but inside it is much more appealing, good selection of very well kept real ale and a large drinking area with plenty of memorabilia from the area, has a nice outside drinking area which is very pleasant too.
We visited it a few times when the "island games" were on and found the barstaff to be friendly and charming and more than happy to top up a pint when needed, without being asked as well.
One of the best pubs in St Helier we thought.

A lovely pub but staff are really solemn they don't like to smile or are they polite but on the beer side had a reasonable pint of courage directors even though I was short measured didn't complain as I was sure it would be to much of a effort for barmaid. A nice pub to visit but don't expect any great service just as well they don't serve food. Staff training should be no.1 on managers list,

Looks like its had a refurbsihment. Very pleasant and comfortable inside with a couple of seating areas and a "hidden" patio garden at the rear (no kids). The old porcelain handpumps have gone and have been raplaced by new (but more - 8) beer engines. Good range of fairly standard brews (Courage/Bankss Mild/Ringwood/Spitfire/Doom Bar etc) but nice to see an increase in the beer numbers (they advertise their cask ales on large blackboards). Goodly range of whiskies. Nice little retreat from the bustling market next door.

An attractive little pub down a cobbled street in the heart of St Helier, a good range of ales I tried London Pride a little bit hazy but fine and Sharps Doombar but had to return this as it was clearly end of barrel and got a grimace and a grunt from the barmaid. Exchanged for Bishops Finger but did not enjoy as was getting constant glares from the barmaid. Could be a lovely pub with some staff training.

This pub is located in the centre of town next to the market. It has a pleasant bar with a suntrap courtyard at the rear. Ringwood Filly Drift & Best, Courage Best and Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger were all on, with the Spitfire clip turned round. Stowford Press was the cider. The locals were all having a heated argument over payments to the shrift club!

I like this little pub and think it has quite a bit or character and a welcome retreat after visiting the market next door. Excellent old set of handpumps although two or three are now defunct and have been converted for use for keg beer and lager. However there were 3 cask beers on and the one I had (a World Cup special) was OK. With a bit more TLC (see previous comments) this could be one of the best boozers in town.

This is really a good Jersey pub. The only downside is some week evenings you get a regular in there who likes to stand by the hatch with his back against the wall and potificate utter c**p for all to hear. Other than him, it's a great place.

very disappointing,5 ales advertised first pint(directors)sour, second(ringwoods)told it was gone(where i dont know),third(john smiths cask) satisfactory but had to ask for it to be topped up. the landlord seemed to be having a bad day was not very accommodating, weren't made to feel welcome. Won't visit again, worth a miss!!

Good pub located next to the market. Fair selection of ales (3 or 4) which seem to be kept well. Although I did have to ask for a full pint on one occasion (maybe it was new staff?). Had my first experience of Jersey folk speaking Jrriais.

Rather soulless small pub. Allegedly it gets busy but we were practically the only people there last Tuesday evening.
Some real ales but not well kept it seems.
