We had a meal at The Belper the other night and we found The Restaurant very dull and very cold. However the food was very good, but we will not be eating there again due the unfriendly atmosphere experienced from the locals in The Bar area when we entered the premises...

I like the belper - pity the ghost corner was moved though as I used to take visitors in to show them. Usually a good pint - a beautiful pub inside, especially on a cold winters night. Last twice I have been in there there has been snow on the ground! special place......

Came here for the first time in March and returned April for Sunday lunch. Excellent place, with original looking bar area and a decent garden. Student was at bar asking how much the chips were - on being told they were 1.80 [I think] he asked for a pound's worth! Barman smiled and took his order, which I reckon is worth a thousand 'have a nice days'! Food good value and tasty too, just a shame the Black Sheep was off the menu on the second visit.

We went to the Belper last friday it was packed with a great crowd great atmosphere. Service was very good and the food was excellent. And my main course was only 7.50 smoked haddock risotto it was great. Can't wait to go back the owners are new so lets hope its long lived!

Has always been our favourite pub for sunday lunch until last week. We thought something was up when we got to the car park, usually you cant get a parking space but last sunday it was empty. when we got in the pub we realised it had a new landlord, we used to have a 3 course meal for 11.50. we only had a main course last week and it was 9.50 with no veg ! Just Beef, 3 roast potatoes and that was it. we wont be going back again.

Has changed hands several times recently since being bought by Punch Taverns. Cannot rely on finding it open at present.

I am afraid this place has gone a tad downhill the last 18 months. Still real ale led (just about) but the quality of management and food seems to have slipped imho. The place is now full of branded everything which does not fit in with the look and feel of high quality country pub it once was.

Really friendly staff, welcoming and warm. Menu varied and portions EXTREMELY generous - good pub food, I always go home sated and happy.

Amazed this pub not better known nationally due to its marvellous interior. Beer very good and food looked good too. I guess this part of Leics is just unknown !

My name is Sue Meurant. Iam currently in Tasmania Australia but used to own the Belper Arms with my then husband David Heape. We bought the pub in the eighties and did the renovations you now see. New Restaurant , kitchens etc. Am confused about the bones mentioned on the web site. Is this marketing spin? The pub is as old as stated but there is another ghost not often mentioned. Would be interested in co ntact by present owner to see if she is still there. ps the menu looks good. I have spent many an hour in the catering kitchens. Best Wishes Sue Meurant [email protected]

One of my favourate pubs in the whole country. You expect to see Gandalf strid in for a pint at anymoment.

Beautiful Country pub,(reputedly the oldest in the county. Good selection of guest ales and fabulous food (get there early the specials board empties early evening. Realy worth a visit especially in the summer when the gardens are at there best. This pub has been a "best kept secret" among my friends but deserves wider recognition.
