This is a good old fashioned family run pub (not many of those left!) The welcome you get is warm and the bar staff can't do enough for you. We take our 2 and a half year old here quite often and she loves it, the staff always talk to her, in fact one day she asked for cucumber for her dinner and they bought her some on a plate while we conviced her to chose something from the menu!
The food is yummy, all home cooked and good portions, the pie in particular is knock out, in fact my husband has the same thing every time we go. The steaks are really nice, good cuts of meat cooked just as you like them.
The decour is just what you would imagine for an old fashioned pub but that is all part of its charm, they do have outside seating as well as the bar area and resaurant. Would definitely recommend this pub for it's good service and even better food.

Looks like a pub from the outside but inside is more of a creche/care home hybrid. Walked into be confronted with GK IPA or Abbot and then told by the girl behind the bar that I'd have to wait a while as she had to take a drink order from a table. There were only two occupied tables - one by an old couple and the other by a family with half a dozen kids. As she doted over the family I decided that it wasn't a good idea to hang around in a place that didn't feel pleasant for beer that I didn't really fancy trying.... Got to be a zero ...this place is AWFUL..... if you like beer a few minutes walk down the road is the White Lion.

Worryingly empty at 7:30 on a Friday evening, just us for the twenty odd minutes we stayed. Surroundings pleasant though chilly - the log fire wasn't making much impression on what was admittedly a raw night. Sadly the beer was Pride Pride or Pride, which is a bit of a let down if, like me, you don't like Pride.
It is indeed very handy for a break from the motorway, but there are several better options with a couple of miles or so.

Four of visited in April 2008 and ate well. This is definitely a place to which I will return. The food was excellent, didn't take all night to arrive and was a fair price. The staff take customer service seriously and nothing was too much trouble. Even when one of my guests asked for his pudding to be prepared in a special way, the waitress smiled said "No problem" and it was done, much to his pleasure. It would be best to book in advance as this is a popular eating place (with very good reason) and if you don't want to reverse out onto the main road, ignore the small car park in front of the pub and drive into the back yard. I would rate it 10/10 but for the limited choice of beer.

Beer was OK but the White Lion in the village is infinitely better. The food was good but came out of the kitchen worryingly quickly!

Not a pub for beer but great food a great craic. Locals don't mind sending themselves up either

Within spitting distance of the M40: 0.8 miles from the services/ Travelodge.
Enthusiastic/ pleasant staff.
Well above average quality food, although personally I thought the beer- London Pride- was indifferent.
Elvis nights are a massive sell out.
Good local following.

Great boozer - friendly locals. Worth a visit if visiting Silverstone, only 9 miles away.
