tudor-style restaurant/pub on Pickhurst Lane, built between the two world wars, large garden. Inside the building is open plan. Customers are welcome to enjoy a drink without necessarily eating - there is a separate bar for non-diners. Beer very average - Fuller's London Pride, Greene King IPA Gold and Sharp's Doom Bar.

Not really a pub, more a pre meal venue, food pretty average, beer not up to mucch, think they need to clean the pipes, all round a bit of a con

This pub used to be a family place and good for food. Not sure what it is good for now! When I arrived with my newborn baby & husband for lunch today and was greeted at the door by some young lads revving their cars outside the front door whilst smoking something "unsavoury", I should have known what was to come (not quite sure why the mgmt didn't move the lads along either - but perhaps they don't care about illegal substances being smoked on their premises!). Ignorant staff, a dreadful bar food menu and when the food came out after only 15 minutes it tasted like it had been sat on the side for a few hours! A real shame. Won't be going there again!

I'm afraid I can't add anything positive to any of the previous reviews. I'm just amazed at how may years they span without improvement.

THE worst pub we have been to in a long time! the staff have no idea what they are doing, the inside is shabby with tables and chairs piles up in alcoves and the food is terrible! DO NOT GO HERE!!!
|
Classic example of how to combine a pub and restaurant into neither. Staff useless, beer crap, locals horrid. Really don't bother.

Visted many times over the last few years but the last 2 experiences have put us off for good. They advertise as being family friendly but are far from it if you have young children. Firstly, we were not allowed to bring in a pushchair. The next time we thought we would sit in the garden, only you're not allowed to take high chairs outside!! Baby change facilities also uselessunusable
Certainly not family friendly.
Management extremely rude and arrogant. Will definately not visit again. Their loss as we used to have large family gatherings there 2 or 3 times a year.

Terrible Service, food dreadful especially from the main menu, chips full of grease, steak couldnt cut it so tough and the resturant is so hot and stuffy, very uncomfortable. The decor is good but the food and service is very very poor. I wouldnt recommend this pub for food at all.

SHOCKING bar service at any time of the day, due to inadequate staff-quota. Management is apathetic, arrogant and unaccommodating. Spend your money somewhere else!

I was really hungry when we saw the Pickhurst, and excited about the seafood platter. The decor is lovely but this doesn't carry over to the restuarant - we waited 40 minutes for our food and it arrived cold and oily, as if it had been fried twice in stale oil. Totally inedible. The manager was delightful and refunded our money but she was clearly struggling against the kitchen - we noticed 2 other equally unhappy tables as we waited for our "meal". Nice surroundings but only eat crisps!

The pickhurst is a fantastic, friendly, clean, child friendly pub to have on your doorstep. Since the refurbishment the interior makes it a step above the rest and the carvery is brilliant. We recently took friends there who are always hard to please and they loved the food and the atmosphere. I'm going again for a business meeting tonight so I hope I'm still right!!!

Been tyhere done that spent rest of night throwing up why did i eat the food.

Food awful with rock hard roast potatoes, poor excuse for Yorkshire Pudding. Area behind chef who is carving and serving food disgusting and quite off putting, with food all over the floor. Puddings quite abysmal with minute servings, very splodge of custard. Descrepancies in bill which had to be brought to the attention of the waitress. Thought pub might have improved over the past couple of years since paid the last visit. Might have revamped a couple of months ago, but certainly not impressed with overall ambience and food is poor.

Ideal for families with massive garden and adventure playground with barbeque food served in good weather.
Bar area is OK, but you wouldnt come here for a night out unless you wanted to bring your family or go for a carvery meal.

This isn't a pub, it's a restaurant with an attached children's playground which happens to sell alcohol. The beer "range" is the usual, predictable mass-produced rubbish. The beer garden is lovely - what a shame the only time you can enjoy it in peace is in the pouring rain. A large pub with so much potential - and it wastes it all.

The carvery does serve mostly pensioners (including my parents). I went there with them for both of their birthday's this year and found the food very enjoyable. The pub has a friendly atmosphere and older people are made welcome (unlike many pubs). Well done!

Attached to a huge carvery which serves mostly pensioners with meat that has been dried up under heat lights for over 4 hours.
Attached pub is what you'd expect in being attached to a chain carvery.
Sterile atmosphere but the Adnams seemed to be kept ok. Huge beer garden which looked pleasant enough.
It's not exactly in a pub hot-spot so does if you happen to be passing by which is most unlikely.

Busy pub in popular comuter belt area food is ok as is the larger I dont think this pub will disapoint but it is very busy and just above my min expections, not one for the real ale drinker as beer only average as well. I live near by And would rather travel out to find better, but if you dont want to travel and want somewhere for the kids to play, all those people would not keep returning. Just not my cup of tea.
