Locals pub in a prominent position on a busy road junction, the kind of location supermarket chains love. Luckily there's a large Sainsburys just down the road. The pub has a front bar and a couple of smaller rooms behind the bar, including one with a darts board. Nearly everybody appeared to be local. The barmaid seemed a character. She was boasted that she'd been there 5 months and was easily the longest serving. I'm not surprised. Youngs Ordinary & Sharps Doom Bar was the ale selection. I went for the Youngs. Not worth the walk out of Hornchurch town centre.

This used to be my local for many years when Bill was the landlord. It had a warm welcome and a great pint. I went back there for the first time in ages since it came under "new management", the pub is only a 5min walk from my house and I fancied a quick pint. I wish I'd stayed at home! The pubs now in a fairly poor state of repair, could do with a lick of paint and a good scrub. Its a shame to let such a good pub go to ruin! Theres now a group of really loud yobs at the bar, egged on by the new landlord, who doesn't seem to know how to run a pub, probably his first go at it I think? I drink a pub down the road now, better pint, better atmosphere, and clean as a whistle!

Let's give the pub the credit it deserves! Some friends and I went in to watch the ill feted England v. Algeria match. It was comfortable in there, not too crowded. You had a collection of noisy oiks imitating the vuvusela (?), but that's to be expected.
At half time the governor started bringing out plates of sandwiches, snacks etc..'There's food for you, lads', he said. Where else are you going to get a free buffet thrown in! They had well kept Youngs, Marstons and Abbott on. We had to numb the pain of England's performance by drinking copious amounts of beer and playing on the pub quiz machine. The governor even even gave us the winnings owed to us when the machine packed up. It's a lovely little pub!

Been back a few times since Bill left. Not the same anymore. Young's was OK, but pub has deservedly lost any mention in the GBG. Locals at bar are typical Essex boys - drunk, loud and embarrassing. Back to Wetherspoon's then.

Sneaked an early evening pint of Black Sheep before going to the Queens Theatre (which sells GK IPA & Abbot). First time since new management and if I'm honest I couldn't tell the difference. Still a bit tired but I think it always was and always will be - kinda makes the place homely. A few locals in but no one took any notice of me. Service was OK as was the pint.

This is my local but I dont drink there that often. The beers have always been well kept and under the landlordship of Bill they were cheap. Bill struggled with owners The Romford Brewery Company to keep Youngs bitter on the Bar despite the fact that he sold 5 times as much of it than the bland old crap the brewery tried to flog. Sadly the inside of this boozer has suffered under the auspices of 'Modification' quite recently with the ripping out of the magnificent above the bar glass rack and the introduction of a giant plasm screen on the wall which is very annoying. The lovely mirrors on the wall have also been spoiled by two lamp brackets being mounted on them... what!!! Still the pub is now under new ownership and seems a bit more lively ...in my manor!

I visit this pub regularly. It has always had a good choice of well kept beers. It was better when the former landlord, Bill, and the lovely Natalie were there as it did not have screens. You do get the 'Emerson Park Mafia' in there, who can be noisy but I've never seen trouble there. They are quite friendly.

Friendly landlady, and a great pint of Black Sheep
typical London suburban boozer, but nice enough crowd when i visited. Get the feeling that it is a footie pub although no tv's on when i was there. Handy for a quick pint at lunchtime or when waiting for the train, probably not somewhere to take the wife

under new landlordship so im aware still a good pub was here watching the footie today and no probs

Not a bad place as I popped in here for a quick drink the other night. It is small with enough room for around 20 people. The landlord is friendly enough but the regulars do have a habit of giving you that "your in my manor" look which made us feel uncomfortable so we left.

A dark dingy "locals" pub. To be honest you would fit more people in a match box. No atmosphere, and certainly not my cup of tea

brilliant pub , bill the landlord is your typical east end looking landlord but very friendly , good darts team as well
a proper pub for proper people you will not find many young people in here apart from me and my cousin but we dont cause any problems

A small pub in the centre of a roundabout. Very small so when there are 20 people in there it looks full. Regulars give you the customary stare as you walk in. I would avoid personally

Best pub in the area. CAMRA, award winning the "Pub of the Year" for 5 out of the last 6 years! Excellent quality beer and very good prices. Shows all sporting events, which is not bad for a just a local.
