please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A borderline 7 or 8 as it's good and the best place to drink in Bourne - Release the Chimps from the Nene Valley brewery and Oakham JHB were both in good fettle and my returning of an off pint of milk stout was fielded apologetically and without quibble. The food looks good too but it's perhaps a little too shiny with hair straighteners pressed into widespread service on late Saturday afternoons by the looks of it

In here last Saturday and quite busy.
Walked passed it at first as looks more like a Resturant than a pub from the outside with diners sat in the window.
Good and vaired selection of ales from six hand pumps
I had a very nice pint of Ruperts War Dog for 2.95
O and why is there a silly photo on here.
Over the road is a bar called Firkin Ale where I got a passable pint of Batemans XB for just 1.50 so try that also if here

Best pub in Bourne imo, went to a few , avoided a few others, but the selection of ales was superb. Friendly staff, nice vibe to the place.

Visited Smiths early Saturday evening with my family, including a five year old grand'daughter who was told she to be on her best behavior,or we would be asked to leave.

What a pity other children present had not been given the same instructions.
I find it very annoying when thoughtless parents forego responsibility for their offspring, with total disregard for others and use the pub as a child minder.

Our well earned relaxing visit was was truly spoilt.

Setting the above complaint aside, all other aspects were fine including an excellent London Pride.
Did notice the landlord was not present!

I love this pub! I called in the other evening to discover that they have started doing food in the evening. This is great news for the pub and for Bourne. The menu was very reasonably priced with the ususal suspects on the menu (Steak, Lasagne etc).
The quality and service was as I would expect from a pub that already does lunchtime food to such a good standard.
The real ale is always kept brilliantly in this pub, and is a real credit to Pat and his team.
I always look forward to visiting this pub and I am never disappointed.

I was visiting family in Bourne, Lincolnshire for Christmas 2008. We often went to Smith's which I rate 10/10! The atmosphere is great, the people friendly, great food and lots of ales to choose from.

I recommend Smith's if you're in Bourne.

Regards and thanks to Andrew for his hospitality.

The beer festival starts at 7pm on Friday 15th June 2007.

Good pub to visit anytime though - usually six ales on that consist of Oakham JHB, Fullers London Pride and 4 guests.

The real ale jungle drums tell me that Smiths of Bourne are having their first ever beer festival this coming weekend. Thursday 14th until the good stuff runs out Sunday. No other details at present, but you can always bank on this place for exceptionally well kept beer and excellent service and food. They have a large patio/grassed area (children welcome until eight).

An ideal time to visit one feels!
