I saw on the CAMRA website that this pub closed in Aug 2010. Used to use it a couple of decades ago when a soxth former at a local school. Had some good evenings there!

Good to see backstreet locals surviving in what I've always found a pretty sparse area for pubs. The Dick Turpin is quite a decent-sized place, with a central serving area dividing a front bar with tables and chairs from a games room with pool table at the rear. The decor is fairly unremarkable, and (oddly for a pub off the beaten track) it has the look of a Pubco outlet. Two real ales available - Bombardier and something equally dull, but to be honest it's good to see ale being served at all in this kind of pub. There's some nice seating out the front of the pub - the road it's on being quiet enough to mean that sitting out the front remains relaxing. Service from the landlady was very friendly. It must be nice for local residents to have a reliable boozer like this on their doorstep - long may it last.

If you are after a true local - you have found it. Young media types are as welcome as OAPs - everyone is friendly and there is always someone to chat with. Or, if you prefer, enjoy a quiet drink with your friends. Can't recommend this place enough - a true gem. All those people lucky enough to live near it (ie: in those posh two bed two bath type flats) don't know how lucky they are! I have to walk 1.5 miles to get here but it's still worth it!

The lack of reviews on this pub is due to the fact that it is very much a residential pub tucked away in the back streets of East Finchley. There is a pool table and a dart board in the sparsely decorated back bar area where a few locals that were playing pool looked at me quizzically as they wondered who this stranger was wandering into their pubs toilet.
The front bar is laid out like a lounge complete with sofas and a piano.
I found the two staff to be very friendly as they welcomed me into their pub. John Smiths, Guinness, Strongbow and standard lagers are all available. There is one real ale pump, but this was off during this visit.
There was a good selection of music playing although it was a little loud for my liking. There is also a plasma screen in the back bar which was turned off when it seemed most other pubs in the area were showing the rugby on Setanta, not that this is a bad thing.
This is certainly not a pub to go out of your way for, but the local residents are lucky to have it on their doorsteps.

Lovely new management team! They will make you feel very welcome. It also has a great outside space for summer fun.

This pub was closed down because of all the trouble it once attracted. After renovation the new Landlord and Lady did a fantastic job keeping it at bay. Many locals including myself started to return due to the new relaxed and friendly atmosphere. After a while they even brought the pool table back and not one window was smashed- a complete turn around! It has now changed management, i really hope the new team keep up the work of their predessors. Good booze, good drink and the potential of be a great local!

This pub had shut down when we moved into the area - just recently re-opened and all-in-all a success.
Decor a little boring and at first thought this would turn out to be a soul-less nitrobeer pub. Starting to get a consistent following from a few characters. Nice pint of suffock ale. Yet to try the food which looks a bit ordinary, but the Landlord and Lady are a good laugh.
Recommended, but It's more of a residential pub than one you arrange to meet your mates at.
