Another pleasant local town pub in a town that is still well endowed with hostelries unlike many of a similar size. Another with decent ale too.

The Swan is a likeable Jennings pub that also dispenses a few guests. Their Bitter, Cumberland Ale & Cocker Hoop was supplemented by 3 other ales - Thwaites Wainwright, Barngates Cracker & Bowness Bay Swan Blonde. I sat on the street side of the bar. But there is another seating area to the rear and what looked like a dining area to the side. Families are welcome and there are board games to keep them amused. One of the better pubs in Cockermouth.

welcoming older style pub, sells mild, and it was in excellent form

Pleasantly traditional pub that I rate as my favourite in town.Several rooms, low beams, real fires and a friendly welcome, and although the beer selection can't touch that of the Bitter End down the road, the ubiquitous Jennings is a fine pint here. Definitely worth a visit if in Cockermouth.

A really good atmosphere in this pub and the best pint of Jennings in town, the only one that sells Jennings Dark Mild as well.
We were both made to feel very welcome by the landlady and the locals, this is how a pub should be.

A really top pub - just what a locals' pub in a tourist trap town should be. Beer is always superb. If I lived in Cockermouth it would def be my local - if they'd have me, that is!!

A great little pub with a very friendly atmosphere. Serves an excellent pint of Jennings Bitter.
This pub has got noticably busier over the last few years and is now an excellent place to go for a good pint and a relaxed atmosphere (no music playing in the background).
The Landlord and Lady are friendly and there always seems to be a good mix of locals and visitors.
Would benefit from a few guest beers and the front bar area can be smokey at times.

Excelent little boozer. First rate ales (Jennings Bitter and Dark Mild). Pub games. Quality service by a landlord and lady that really care about the presentation of a pint.

The people who run this pub serve good real ale but there is a terribly smoke-filled atmosphere, especially where people sit at the bar, in an area marked 'no-smoking'!
The licensees are only friendly to their regulars. Visitors can be made to feel not welcome.
