Wife and I had lunch here recently and the food was excellent. The pint of London Pride I had was in good condition. Nice neighbourhood local with obviously a strong local custom by the way the barmaid greeted all by name. Age profile pretty high which is prob par for the course with this type of pub. Agree with previous comment on décor - dated, with a strange taste in the wallpaper also going across the ceiling, last seen a lot of in French B&Bs.

Best Pub in Hersham. A well maintained, great traditional pub with a warm atmosphere, always friendly and safe unlike other pubs in the area. Yes the beer is a bit pricey but you always get a decent quality pint. The food is excellent, but you need to get in at the right time on a Sunday if you want the roast as it tends to be very popular. The outside is always worth a look in the summer if you like a good show of flowers!

Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch there, good value and quality.
Unfortunately I will never go back there, and I will do my best to ensure that none of my local friends do either, as they refused to serve me a glass of water with the meal, although we had paid over 40 for food and drinks. Apparently this is the policy of the landlord, who was not there for me to tell him my view on this.
Bottled water is extremely harmful to the environment and an unnecessary affectation. If I choose to drink tapwater I strongly resent someone refusing to provide me with it.

As mentioned in other reviews, very expensive drinks here. So much so that people I know have started looking elsewhere. The Ashley near Walton on Thames station is much better value and food and I know some people moved onto there now. Having said that, I've never had a bad pint and the evening food is good quality. So if the prices get more realistic, we may all start meeting up at this pub again.

Well run tradional 2 bar pub. Finbar (excellent guy) and his team serve a well kept pint though never eaten here yet. Interesting decor. Decent clientele. RoyTheBike

Hmmmm, yes, I noticed the extensive use of wallcoverings. But serves an okay pint and you won't get your head kicked in. Unless "Doug the boats" in a bad mood that is!

Excellent home cooked food at lunchtime (pies, roasts, etc.). No delays - it's served up as you ask for it. Good selection of ales too. Very popular with elderly locals.

As members of the Hersham Bike Preservation Society we, as a genuine group of good ale drinkers, adore this local Local so very much.Unfortunately for some reason we all seem to drink vodka tonics, gin and tonics, sauvignon blanc, double tomato juice or just plain tonic.Does this say something about the ale? No not at all.It means that smaller drinks are quicker to pour and drink. The renowned management runs a tight ship and the entire crew on the passenger side of the bar relishes the repartee that the word "tight" provokes. We know better, as we can remember an occasion when drinks flowed generously until, unfortunately, one of the two pool tables got damaged after managerial interference. Joking aside the pub is clean, friendly(provided your credit is "Coutts"),and the female barpersons are sensational. On the foodside there has to be congratulations to Finbar and his professional staff. At lunchtime it would be difficult to find better food at the quoted prices and selection. In the evening the menu goes up a class, but with the same competive prices. The two specialist restaurants within close whispering distance must be seething! Keep going Finn you are doing Hersham and your bank manager a terrific service!

Not a bad pub grub style place, used it once for a business lunch, and evening drink with visitors. never been back since landlord needs a personality transplant!

A cosy and well-maintained village pub that is deservedly popular with Hersham locals and visitors alike. The beers are a bit on the pricey side but there's a good selection with usually one or two interesting guest ales. It benefits from having two excellent restaurants - the Dining Room and the San Marco - close by, so attracts a goodly number of pre- and post-dinner customers. However it also does its own food - the excellent Sunday lunches are humungous and very good value. Be sure to get there a few minutes before 12 noon if you want to secure a table - those elderly locals can put on a startling turn of speed! My only minor quibble with the saloon is that the rather florid wallpaper also extends right across the ceiling, giving a rather dark and `hemmed-in' feeling. There's a more spartan but large public bar in the other half of the pub, with two different-sized pool tables - if you get there early enough on a weekend evening you can usually be assured of a few games with your friends on one of these before the regulars arrive to take them over. There's also a telly in the public bar but - mercifully - no big screen.

I love the Bricklayers Arms. it is a small, friendly pub, where everybody knows each other. Visit for midweek lunch, fantastic food at a reasonable price. It is easily the best pub food I have tasted in a LONG time!

This traditional pub is run in a very proper manner by the tenant, Finbar. Although easily the most expensive pub in Hersham, you will benefit from a wide selection of well kept beers and lagers, along with a guest ale. The public bar has a TV (without Sky), a fruit machine, and two sizes of pool table. The lounge bar only has a fruit machine. Music is 'hobson's choice' from the landlords own selection, and is kept to a low level. Toilets are kept very clean, and all the brasswork is polished. Pointing out that a towel roll needs changing is mat by a 'thank-you' and instant rectification. The sunday lunch is reasonably priced, and high quality, which explains the queue of senior citizens outside at 11.50AM. Rooms are also available to the side of the pub, which can be accessed without entering the bars. Finbar is always around (except on the one night a week he takes his wife out for a meal), and extends a warm welcome. Swearing at the bar is not tolerated, and you will be asked to apologise to any female staff which may have been within earshot at the time - not a bad thing in my opinion. A renowned restaurant (The Dining Room) is very nearby, so you may wish stop by in the 'Brick' on your way to or from your meal. The occasional celebrity may also be spotted in the lounge bar - in my case, Sue Barker has been sighted twice.
Recommended, but make sure you wallet isn't running low.

Reasonably friendly old-school locals' pub. Beers are usually decent.
