Elm Tree Inn, Swanwickback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Proper old fashioned pub in a semi rural setting. Decent sized car park, though I can see it might get full at busy times, as the pub extends into the side beer garden to accommodate a dining area. Four pumps, three in use: Doom Bar and two beers from Flowerpots. The Flowerpots Bitter was in excellent condition.
I entered into a sparse public bar with the rugby on, but nobody watching. Moved through into the lounge, where the cask beers are kept, and where the locals were gathered round the bar. The dining area looks a little chintzy for my taste, but seems quite acceptable. As the pub is proper old fashioned, and I visited in the afternoon, the kitchen was closed, and menus had been removed. One couple, and one family turned up looking for food, and both left on being told food didn't start till 6pm.
I sat in a rocking chair which started to fall apart. On handing the pieces to the landlady it was clear this often happened. I had a feeling that the chair would be reassembled after I left, ready for the next customer to sit in and break it.

good pub, reasonably priced food, local ales

The pub is currently undergoing some major refurbishment work as it needed updating. The bar is still open for all who wish to drink and once the work is finished the bar and kitchen will be back open with the highly experienced and friendly chef providing good home cooked food at reasonable prices.
It may look a mess at the moment but watch this space, The Elm Tree will be back looking better than ever as soon as possible!
Thanks go to all the loyal customers who remain visiting this pub during this time.

I recently returned to this pub after not visiting for a year or so, Even though the pub is currently under going some work I have to say it is a pleasant place to drink, It does not look so great from the outside and the decor inside leaves a lot to be desired but other than that it is a fab little pub with very reasonably priced drinks and good home cooked food. I will definately be visiting more often again.

This is an excellent semi-country pub. A first class range of real ales, friendly bar staff and delicious food. The garden and exterior of the building are a little run-down, which adds to the charm.
