Regency, Weston Super Mareback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
All the reviews of this place are spot on.
Our pub crawl was hitting a bit of a low but this place restored some faith.
I agree it does feel a bit like a private club but that was fine. Also an impressive selection of ales too and it was great to see Bass on the pumps too.
8/10

decent old school pub near to town centre. had a decent pint of something hart here.

Reasonable freehouse just far enough off the beaten track to discourage the riff raff. The ale selection was a fairly standard national selection - Wells Bombardier, Youngs London Gold, Courage Best, Butcombe Bitter & Bass. The interior is a bit dark, but has some interesting features and there is a small outside area at the rear that feels a little claustrophobic, surrounded by large townhouses, but offers a slightly brighter environment.

I had a pint of Flowers IPA (!) which is apparently brewed for Inbev by Brains of Cardiff, followed by Butcombe, and am happy to confirm the foregoing reviews. They hold a beer festival during the last week in each month, with some obscure beers (to me), which looks worth a visit. Slightly peckish, but not really hungry, so opted for a simple beef sandwich. Bloody hell! I had to have another beer, as the sandwich was a proper "doorstep" job and took a lot of eating. A real pub, unlike so many in this country these days. Not a chav to be seen. Magic!

Good beer, excellent food, nice atmosphere, friendly locals........my mate was a little put off by one of the bar staff, a greek looking chap that she described as an 'oily t**t' but he didn't bother me and wasn't enough to put her off another visit. Well worth a look, I will certainly be popping in again next time I'm in or around Weston, especially on a Sunday for one of their excellent roasts.

Very nice friendly pub. Cosy and pleasant. Ice cold Becks on draft too.

Just paid more visits to this superb establishment whilst up in Weston for a few days. Maintains its high standards and, by the way, turns out good, wholesome, simple food. Sunday roasts now very popular. Looking forward to my next visit.

A very good pub, with a fine choice of real ales served adequately. Worth a visit.

A very nice professionally run establishment. Polite and helpful bar staff plus a friendly clientale make this pub an ideal place to spend an hour or two.
|
Bigger than it looks from the outside, comfortable grown-ups pub, with a good selection of real ales, (which is unusual for Weston). I would recommend it, and I'm surprised its not in the Good Beer Guide.

Participating in National Cask Ale Week 2010. All ales 2.50 per pint. Very deceptive from the outside - quite spacious inside. Nice atmosphere, good mix of mature locals.

Slightly off the beaten track, but all the better for it. Although its right opposite the college, so I guess must get pretty busy with students at certain times.
In some ways it looks more like a private club that a public bar with its deep red carpet, blue velvet on all the chairs and strange patterned ceiling tiles. A bit 70s I guess. Theres an impressive large bay window though with some comfy (blue velvet) seating around it. Not really a food pub, but there was a small laminated menu on the tables and a few people eating.
Good choice of beers on tap with Butcombe, Courage Best, Barnstormer, Flowers IPA and Bass. There was a sixth pump not in use so there may be more than this at times. Also Thatchers Gold cider.
