Went here for the first time since the last long term landlord left. Blimey the rabble have arrived, stunk of dope, rave next door so don''t know where it came from so moved to end of garden for fresh air then landlady comes over and accuses us of smoking it. Nice! Hate the stuff. Wife has reported it to the police.

the landlady of this pub and her partner are 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet and they have also made this pub like a special little home , the shelves are packed with items like chocolate and stuff u wouldnt usually find in a pub..also there are televisions and a pool table...free wi-fi and u can even charge up your mobility scooter for a small charge....the food is excellent too....i cant praise this pub enough and the landlady and landlord have brilliant personalities and they will try to help you whenever they can

two handpumps with just butcombe on, so opted for thatchers(2.90). Reasonably friendly place with attractive barmaid, 6/10

The cow has had another change of landlord, yet again, just before christmas 2011. We hoped it would be a saving grace for this pub, which could be a very good local. Things were going good, food started with more customers comming in, and some entertainment at the weekends was provided. Things were looking up....or so we thought. Recently I started hearing reports that the landlord has lost all his bar staff (walked out) and that regular customers were leaving in their droves. I could not believe this, so one night I went in to find out what was going on. And I wish I had not. The landlord was very rude with a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. So I left it never to return.

still the some at the cow, nice to see that the police are not there ever weekend.toilet still need a good clean ,the smell bad. only got 4 stars for food as the keys got 5 stars that says alot.

Any rating system is a matter of taste - if you like loud chavs, lazy staff (it took over 30min for our plates to be taken away) and poor food then this is the place for you. The whole time the barmaid served me she was talking to some kids who must have been her friends at the bar, and when I asked for ice...if looks could kill.
It was my first and definitely my last visit.

I must say i do agree with bristolbeerdrinker,i have been drinking in the pub since sarah and simon were running before simon's parents margaret and gerry came into in may time.there was a bit of trouble at the start but since they got rid of numpty's its been really good,as for the food its the best in fishponds, if your sort of food is a nice bit of microwave grub from some chain pub's then your welcome to it,as for the sunday roast it is the best ive ever had.as for young people working behind the bar i think simon and sarah would take that as a compliment, its really nice to go to a family run pub with people you can talk to,i dont know were you got under age drinkers from they ID everyone even the people that look old enough, Small minded people like woodwell need to get out more and get a life

Woodwell - Interesting previous review - says it all when you say 'Alex' is doing a great job in the Keys You obviously dont expect a decent pint in a clean welcoming environment.
Margaret and Gerry are a proper landlord and landlord who clean their beer lines, polish the tables and dont spend all their time getting pissed. As for the food, if you dont book on Sunday you wont get a dinner. Says it all really. And as for the youth club? I dont think so
Been barred have u - how sad you to steep so low.
Proper pub - Well worth a visit

the pub has gone down hill. the food is bad.kids working around the bar. toilet smelling not looking clean at all. not a good welcome from family who is working there now. seen the police there again with dogs. under age drinkers.we are all sick of it . bad bad. do not go in there no more

As a local from when the previous owners were there has been a massive change around and its not a 'youth club' anymore. The Spotted Cow was closed in November 2008 since then in March 2009 there was change of landlords. Its a family orientated pub. Serve Meals & Sunday Lunches,Kareoke once a month pub quiz every sunday. This pub hs transformed into a decent community pub

The 'Cow' is now open again, and very nice it is too.
Two real ales are on tap. Currently 'Sharps Doombar' and 'Courage Best' with 'Fosters', 'Stella' and 'Kronebourg' lagers and 'Blackthorn' and 'Strongbow' Cider as well.
A total transformation of what was a rather run down pub!

The 'cow' has been closed for ages now, but there are signs of building works going on. I have heard that it is to reopen in Dec 2007 after a major refurb. We will wait and see!
