Back at the Railway Tavern and this is Still The Only Real 'Local' Pub in Fishponds!
Real Beer, Skittles, Darts, Dogs allowed if very well behaved, Cyclists are welcome and the Railway Tavern is just down the road from the Bristol and Bath Cycle-path!
And if you are a keen angler, you can chat for hours with the many resident anglers who drink here.....13lb 6oz or was it 15lb 10oz?
Football is also shown on three screens around the pub and there is a quiz on Sunday evening.
Overall-go old locals pub for more than just 'locals'.

We have lost the Greyhound and Cross Keys in Fishponds, but the Railway Tavern is still THE ONLY Real Pub left in fishponds.
The landlord is very keen and knows his stuff, if a beer is not up to scratch it does not go on.
Bar staff are attentive and also know their stuff too.
Overall.....A real local, for everyone, not just locals.

I did a relief management job in this place back in the seventies when it was called the Pecketts Flyer, and it's worth reporting that it's the only pub I've known to have had ten darts teams and fourteen skittles teams! Just as well to know if you're playing in a home or away match!

About the ONLY DECENT PUB left in Fishponds.... Darts, Cards, Skittle Alley, and a weekly quiz night, plus football and rugby games shown on several screens around the bar area.
The only thing that they don't have is a pool table...But it's not that kind of pub anyway.
Usually 3 Real ales on and all in top form, and if they are not in top form they are not 'put on'!
REMEMBER!...........
Support YOUR local pub or it will close and all you will be letf with will be *ether$p^ons....

Always seems to be busy. Always a nice atmosphere and welcoming. Nice pint as well.

Visited on a Friday night. Buzzing but with very loud music, not that I mind loud music but the only seats were underneath one of the speakers "I SAID UNDERNEATH ONE OF THE SPEAKERS"
Not a bad place to visit for a reasonable drink and good atmosphere but some older visitors may feel less at home.

Really nice pub, best in Fishponds... friendly staff, nice mix of people (students/locals/townies/old men/you name it), good food and a great beer garden for soaking up the summer sun... even the music is okay

Pegging has been taking place here as well as the Portcularse and Whetherspoons. Fishponds is a pegging free-for-all!
Remember! Your'e Never Alone, With a Peg!

The Railway is a great pub, always bustling with a growing crowd of customers. The layout flows round the pub following flat screen televisions, and one extremely big TV great for sports. The food served is very reasonably priced and easily fills you up. It's tasty, and obviously fresh served by very friendly staff. I have tried the Scampi and Gammon which both tasted better than your standard pub meal in my opinion. Didn't venture into the specials board, but duck was one of the dishes listed.
If you live in Bristol, the pub is not far from the centre and I go out of my way to visit there from time to time. It's a cool out-of-town pub with a big garden away from traffic, always catching the sun!
