We went for a meal there last Monday, and both me and my partner had the Burger for a fiver deal. The burger was hand made (with a little hint of chili), and was cooked perfectly. Decent pint of Harveys, and the staff were very attentive. Suffers' from a little bit of "regulars" syndrome in the bar, but you can't hold that against the pub. Overall, we'll be back again

The terrace out the back overlooking the river is nice to while away a few hours in the evening, but other than that, nothing to really recommend it. I've only been there on weekend evenings, usually Sundays, and the restaurant areas are always intensely middle class. They really don't look very comfortable all crammed in, but they must be telling them selves it's really nice, actually.
The bar staff are friendly enough, although once one bringing our food told us off for not having the number angled so she could see it easily from the doorway. Well, your a waitress deary, I'm the customer, and not here for your convenience.
I agree with JoeP that the burgers are good; once had the nachoes (ie cheesy doritos - any Mexican would spit them out) with cheese etc, and it was passable, if a little stodgy. Beers were so so, so I've had lagers since.

I went here on a sunny Sunday lunchtime with three fellow bike-riders, one of whom lives in Brighton and recommended it for our lunch-stop.
There seemed to be three spaces: a bar area, a restaurant area in a sort of conservatory, and an outside terrace, with views of the estuary. We were outside, and it was very pleasant (though not very sheltered from wind). The other three all had the Sunday roast (�10), which did not seem to please them especially: the beef was overcooked, the "roast" potatoes were clearly deep-fried, not roast; but I had a burger (�9.95), which was surprisingly good: good fresh bread, very herby meat, a good slice of cheddar, etc. The beers were fine, but not exceptional. Staff were friendly.
I'd recommend it for a lunch or a drink on a nice day, otherwise there are probably better alternatives.

I'm over 60 and I enjoy this place. Doom Bar is always on offer and is well kept. The seafood menu is good especially the mussels and the calamari. On a sunny evening there is no better place than the back terrace (if the tides in).

This is a restaurant pretending to be a gastro-pub, and it's a poor imitation of both. Avoid this place.

Garden is lovely in the summer by the river. Food is expensive, beer range is dreadful. Big pub, but effectively a restaurant sadly.

We have found the prices too high. Anyone over 25 would feel old here.
