Our favourite pub when we visit the area. Excelent food, beer and service. Best to reserve a table if you want a meal at the weekend it is very very popular.

We did a circular walk from Chalvington and visited the Plough, as it is getting a good reputation locally. The pub has been nicely refurbished but when you walk in lunchtime nearly all of the tables are set for meals, which can be off putting if you just want a pint. Having said, that the staff were pleasant and welcoming and the beer (Sheps and Harveys) was in good condition. There was an extensive menu (not always a good sign) but the food was very good. We will definitely return but avoid the weekend as it can get very busy.

New management have given this pub a spruce-up, and a more classic country hostelry feel.Good beers from Sheps, and a menu with proper food on it.
Jolly good show!

Very friendly, attentive and welcoming staff, fabulous food, huge garden for our and our friends' children to run around and play in, great selection of drinks (beers, lagers, wines, spirits AND coffees) and a well attended pub quiz on the Tuesday we were there. Seems to be a general feeling of bonhomie about the place - well done Shepherd Neame and especially the landlord and his staff, both front and back of house.

Comfortable pub with good atmosphere. Plenty of options for dining, both in terms of seating and range of food available. Huge garden for those fine weather visits.
We have particularly enjoyed our visits for the Tuesday evening Quiz Nights.

Against my usual preference, I needed a pub with a tv in a hurry on Saturday so I wouldn't miss the rugby, in between performing parental taxi duties. The Plough was closest and fortunately it came up trumps all round. A good, comfortable, central public bar with an unobtrusive flat-screen tv, Sheps beers (the Kent's Best was very good) and friendly conversation.

There's a raised dining area to one end, and a doorway to another low beamed dining room at the other end. The menu and food looked good - there were a surprising number of diners for so early in the evening. It's clearly popular.

I said the pub came up trumps all round - shame I can't say the same for the rugby performance!

Fairly average pub but gets a couple of extra points for the barmaids gravity-defying chest.
