Still a top pub serving good food and good ales. Serving beer from the nearby Loddon brewery a definite plus point.

Large pub next to the station. Pride, Landlord and Hoppitt on offer yesterday - the latter was very good. Now open all day every day including from 0900 for breakfast!
Large garden, smallish but adequate bar area and large dining area.

Stopped here for a quick pint after finishing a section of the Thames Path. Pride, Landlord and Loddon Hoppit. Attractive pub, not too restaurant based. Decent garden, Hoppit was only �3.05 so not that expensive. Worth a visit and can be used as a waiting room for Shiplake station.

Fantastic pub. We were introduced to it a few years ago by a friend who was living in Henley and have been going regularly ever since.
Food is always superb, we are regulars for the set Sunday lunch - homemade yorkies with all the roast - what could be better than that! and in the summer they do great BBQ in the garden.
Staff are always really friendly and they have a great wine selection.
Defiantly worth a visit!!

We found it pleasant and welcoming. Decent ale at hefty prices. Very good food. Rowing memorabilia also feature.

We went at a weekend and were brusquely told that there were no tables available. We sat in the bar for a drink and made the cardinal sin of taking a bowl of nibbles that had been put on the bar to our table (still leaving several similar ones on the bar). It was curtly removed and we were told that they were people at the bar only.
I shall not ever, ever try this place again. The staff were rude and made no attempt to be welcoming. Considering we were a bunch of well-heeled middle-aged fogies, I can't imagine who they think they're running the place for.

Rugby shirts and various sporting prints around the small but comfortable front bar area. Pride, Landlord and Loddon Hoppit on handpump. The rest of the pub is geared toward ding � it is, after all, the GPG Oxfordshire dining pub of the year and, although I didn�t eat this time, for a change I was there with a vested interest in the food set-up. In addition to a reasonably priced a la carte menu there was a fabulous, fortnightly changing, table d�hote style menu offering a good variety of choice and excellent value at �11.50 for two courses. Nice, also, to see some good non-turkey alternatives on the forthcoming dec/xmas menu (eg pan-fried pigeon breast or roast halibut) but disappointing that it is offered only for bookings of 4 or more.
If it does/did, as suggested, have some connection with Loddon brewery, then a choice of their beers would be a welcome change to the usual suspects.

Absolutely agree with Gristy about the pub - a marvellous place!
Just one minor point - although Graham and Mary are very good friends with the owners of the brewery, they aren't related! That said, the previous owner of the pub, Andy Hearn, is the brother of Loddon Brewery chief Chris!!

Superbly run pub - the only one in a very upmarket village, but none the worse for that! Very high standards, both in food and quality of beers. It almost stands as the brewery tap for the nearby Loddon Brewery - 3 miles away - as the management was/still is from the same family that owns the brewery. Not at all cheap, but the quality is outstanding.

Seems like the only pub they have in this very scenic area. Just near the river thames. Tiny car park just near

New venture from the "old" management of the 5 Horseshores, Maidensgrove. That'll be enough recommendation for most.
Propper review to follow, but menu choice looks execllent.
