This pub has had a makeover this year. Pity they did not give the landlord a makeover at the same time. Still creeps around, and does not appear to have any gratitude for the customers, even if you have a bottle of wine with your meals. Cannot fault the bar staff though. Food is bland, prices have gone up. Better value at the Crown Carvery places.

I need to return to make a new comment on this pub. My wife visited there with a friend for a meal last week. She could not finish the food, it was not prepared properly. It seemed to be a similar experience to the one we had last August. Compared to The Old Boot pub in Seaford, the drink prices, including the house white wine are very reasonable. However, the pub needs a facelift. It is looking shabby. The service to the table can irritate, as they keep asking if everything is all right - do you need anything else - etc. This pub appears to have had better days - recommend going elsewhere.

I recently visited this pub again having not been to it for some while, I usually use the Wellington but I noticed the Plough is now in the 2014 edition of the Camra Good Beer Guide. Very sad to say it certainly has not improved. I asked the bar staff for descriptions of a couple of the beers on offer ( such as light or dark ) and was just stared at as though I was speaking martian !. Opted therefore for a pint of Harveys Best, which quite honestly was one of the worst pints of this I have had in a long time. It was stale in the barrel and had obviously been on for several days, it was also far too warm so I guess no cellar temperature control. I didn't finish it and the following night went back to the Wellington. 10 very well kept beers at the correct temp. How the Plough is in the GBG and yet the Wellington isn't I fail to understand.

Went back in the other night. Although there was still a good selection of real ales, it looks like the days of cheaper beer here have gone, sadly.

Good range of beers in this locals' pub by the church. Seaford is admittedly not a very noisy place - they leave that for Brighton - but it serves.

This is a great pub for a low cost meal. Where else can you get a rump steak cooked as you like it for under 8? Because the menu is so reasonable, it is often very busy, particularly with the older generation. You have to be patient to get to the bar. Not a great range of ales, but always well kept and new options are added quite regularly. Shame that 'Tribute' has gone from the playlist, but perhaps it will return. A pub that does what it does very well...did I mention the steak?

I like this pub, being close to the rail station, the food is good, and is served hot. Beer is reasonably priced. The landlord does not say much to any visitors, but so what?
|
Landlord is a homunculus but can keep a good pint at a reasonable price - only contact you can expect is when he snatches the menus in at 8.30 - perhaps its just as well he only consorts with his cronies. Barmaids are friendly and efficient and the pub-chain food is good value. Pick of the pubs in Seaford.

I agree that the landlord keeps a close eye on things.Obviously very experienced but not too interested in chatting to anyone who could be described as 'passing trade' He and his family can be found sitting in the bar area most evenings with their retinue.
Harveys is consistanly good quality & at 2.50 is a bargain.
Agree with the last poster that if you want a quick pint then you are likely to be waiting behind a customer ordering food for the group that are with them.
The quality of the bar staff is high. Attentive, polite and know how to pour a quality pint with a smile!

land lord not to everyones taste but seems to keep the idiots out. good range of well kept ales, alwys harveys and tribute plus a cheapie and well varied guests. food is cheap pub fare, usually well cooked and served quickly. needs a separate drinkers till on busy food nights as foodies get confused by the script read by the bar staff. best pub in seaford in my opinion, no kids or chavs and nearly a quid a pint cheaper than round town. strangely quiet late at night, people off for a dance and a fight elsewhere?

IT JUST GETS BETTER !!!!!!
St Austell Tribute now 1.99 a pint. Methinks a carry out next time I visit.
Oh yeah, I used to be PERSIST_ARTIST but my account seems to be locked out.
|
PRICE UPDATE !!!!!
ST Austell Tribute is STILL ON and is STILL GOOD!!!! The price of a pint is now even less too, 2.40, WOW !!!!
Food here is OK as well as cheap too, 2 could eat out here and have a beer and get change from 15.00.
|
Ops! A pint and a half for 2.49 - I'd move in. That should have been 3.49 - still remarkable.
|
While visiting Seaford with the view of buying a house there went to this pub as (hopefully) this will be my local. Excellent news, best pint of real ale I've tasted in ages, even better - my pint and half of Stella for the misses came in at 2.49! Two all day breakfasts at 4.99 each were too large to be finished. The wife reckons I'm only going to buy the house coz it's close to this pub.
|
Large garden, filled mainly with smokers. Not particularly atmospheric inside and was a bit of a scrum when trying to order at the bar. However, the food was very cheap and good value.
|
Yep, went back and saw Tribute was still on at 2.60 per pint. There are other cheaper beers too. The young lass who served me was very pleasant and when she was half way through pulling the pint she stopped and held the glass up. " I don't like the look of this sir, I thinks its gone, will you wait while I change the barrel ". Too right luv, I don't mind waiting. Blimey, very impressive, she seems to know her stuff. Changes barrel, pulls up half a bucket from the new one, to flush the line through and then pours a couple of halves, just to make sure. Very nice too. Guess I'll have to go back again tonight.

Went to this place a few times just over a year ago. Tried several real ales but didn't find one that was in good condition so never went back. Ate there on one of the previous visits, food not bad. Looked in the other day as they now seem to have the CHEAPEST BEER PRICES IN SEAFORD. They were quite busy too with lots of folks eating there. Wow !!!! All real ales less than 3.00. Had a pint of St Austell Tribute. Very, very good; so I had another. Going back tonight, hope its still on and in good nick. This place has gone up in my estimation. Even the young bar staff seemed very keen to serve.
|
Not really sure what if meant by previous reviewer about "beer expensive", Carlsberg is 2.09 and Harvey Bitter is 2.35p. The landlord seems a bit world weary but the bar staff have been trained well and do their best which is good enough for me

the food in this pub has improved over the last few months, there are some good deals to be had in the evenings. the curry night is very good value, curry and a pint for a fiver, cant be bad.Still yet to see if the landlord has improved.

Good location, interior could do with an update. Beer expensive and food...not the best.

This could be a nice pub, but its a mess inside needs a refurb or a good clean at least. Very cheap menu with food to match. Your better off having fish and chips down the road.
|
Went there for a family lunch and was quite impressed. Nice town centre boozer with good selection of ales and good food to match. Menu fairly extensive with all the pub standards. Generous portions and very reasonable prices. Happy to go again - might see the cat next time.
|
Reasonable selection of ales and comfortably furnished. Not entirely convinced the barman knew how to pull a pint properly, but it tasted OK. Extra point for the beautiful cat!
|
miserable landlord, substandard food, quiz night an absolute farce, what more can I say.
