Had a reasonable pint or three of Brimstage "Scarecrow".

Called in here for the first time recently and was much impressed. From the outside it looks like it's going to be a hotel and nothing much else but in fact it's a decent pub and restaurant too. It seems to have been refurbished fairly recently, certainly since the last reviewer was there, and it's under newish management too. But in other respects it's not changed since "Jason Bourne" was there. Very friendly staff, good range of interesting food (e.g. potted shrimps+prawns+crab as a starter), no problem getting brown bread instead of white, and a range of local cask ales (including Brimstage Trapper's Hat, Woodlands Bitter). And yes, friendly locals too!

Have visited the Ship a few times and have always found it to be a decent pub with friendly bar staff and good beer. Very much a pub where the locals don't make you feel uncomfortable, as if you've just walked into "their" pub. It's good to see they support local breweries as I've had a few good pints of Trapper's Hat from the Brimstage Brewery which is a only few miles up the road from the Ship. I would highly recommend a visit on a summer's evening when you can sit outside and watch the sunset over the Welsh hills while supping your favourite beer - heaven!!

Visited for the first time in a long while as part of a mini pub crawl of Neston & Parkgate. Rather empty even allowing for mid week. Had a pretty good pint of Storr (real lager) from the Betwixt brewery and a pretty awful pint of Spitting Feathers "Farmhouse Ale". 2.80 a pint is over the top for less than top notch quality.

Unbelievably bright and mostly dead during the week until some turnip looking like the bloke from Dollar starts his quiz. Weekend sees the good folk of Parkgate piling in. But beware the Karaoke and disco nights. Still have never met anybody that's actually stayed there.

Decent pub but a bit empty, ale good and barstaff very friendly.

Probably the best atmosphere in the area. Packed to the rafters of a weekend.

One of three decent pubs in parkgate (the fourth is obvious).

Nice Pint every time, friendly people, plenty of things going on!

Good selection of beers, always something going on like bands, quizes etc. Not a clicky pub, plenty of random punters popping in for a pint of their favourite tipple. Also nice view of the Dee estuary!!
