Hare and Hounds, Lothersdaleback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Visited here several times when out walking etc. Lovely location in quiet off-the-beaten-track but Lothersdale. A decent pint of Theakston's Best Bitter but the pub itself is unremarkable with no particular vibrancy about it but friendly enough - I've always got the feeling I've stepped back 20-30 years when I've been here. This was how all rural pubs were in the 1970's and 1980's - make of that what you will ! Lothersdale does have that faintly behind-the-times feel about it - not necessarily a bad thing.

POOR QUALITY FOOD, LIVER AND GRAVY VERY SALTY, VERY CHEAP SAUSAGES, CHICKEN IN CIDER WAS DRY AND BURNT, TINNED PROCESS PEAS AND CHEAP FROZEN CHIPS. NOT NICE AT ALL. LANDLORD NOT WELCOMING AND ONLY INTERESTED IN HORSE RACING ,NOT QUALITY FOOD OR A FRIENDLY WELCOME. NO WONDER IT WAS DESERTED ON A VERY SUNNY WEEKEND.

Unremarkable? Grey Wolf, you have remarked TWICE on the Hare and Hounds so obviously not... The total lack of imagination in your second post shows why you experienced a 'slow death from visual boredom'.
I have recently visited the Hare and Hounds and found it to be a lovely country pub. The atmosphere was friendly, as were all the staff. The food was lovely pub food and the prices reasonable. Lothersdale is a beautiful village and well worth a visit. My husband is a big real ale drinker and said the beer was fab.
I will definately be back soon as everything in this pub was enjoyable.

Pleasant. Bland. Unremarkable. And this despite having just become a free house.
Still exactly the same as countless other featureless pubs across England and Wales. Don't expect to return.
Pleasant staff. Reasonable beer. Acceptable food.
Just don't expect anything other than a slow death from visual boredom. Take a book. Even a bad one.
