Ring of Bells, Shipleyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Visited on a recent weekday lunch time. A traditional looking large pub with original stained glass windows. The interior is also traditional in style though not old fashioned and dated - plenty of dark wood but comfortable furniture.
Service at the bar was efficient and friendly. There was a small crowd at the bar chatting but no issues getting noticed and served swiftly.
There were 7 hand pumps offering Old Rosie, Tetley, Tetley Mild, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin, Ruddles, Greene King IPA, and finally Ring O'Bells Guest Ale.
I chanced a pint of the Ring O'Bells Guest which I think set me back £2.85. No issue with the pint.
Would happily call in again if in the area.

Good all-rounder, in the sense that the decent enough beer was complemented by cheap and cheerful food, allowed my children in, and had Sky (repeats).

An improved cellar and usually 5 or 6 decent ales including Salamander, Ilkley, Saltaire and Copper Dragon. Pie and peas is your best bet at 2.95, still standard fare otherwise. Good if you like sport but also has quiet areas when no footy or rugby on. Comps to the cellar man!

Pretty decent range of ales which change fairly regularly. Hard to find a place not near a TV screen and it's sports mad especially when there's a big RL or football match. Having said all that it's not in any way chavvy and appeals to people of all ages.

beer is OK - usually a real ale or two. Food standard pub fare. Sky sports in every room. Wednesday matches are sometimes disrupted by landlords 'darts 'n Doms nights, when he unceremoniously removes people from comfortable positions. The landlord is blunt, a man of few words, most of them rude. Ex Rugby League player I think, hence a bit of an obsession in here. He is like a brick outhouse and I have seen him remove trouble from the pub in the blink of an eye, so go down the Rosse for your fights lads.

Always some decent ale on offer. Was in last week for the football. Sadly the landlord was poor. The black sheep was decent. The copper dragon golden pippin was fantastic.
Does food and the locals are friendly enough - landlord and his Mrs are sound enough
Well worth visiting if in the area

Seems no one has commented on this pub so I'll leave a slightly longer review than I normally do.
Good points - this is a really nice traditional pub building, also there are usually a couple of real ales on.
Bad points - food service generally somewhere between slow and very slow.
Notes - this is a very sporty pub - the place is filled with TV screens, though there is an excellent snug where you can typically turn off the little TV without complaint. Every other room has projectors or big widescreen affairs. The snug also has a dartboard and a scoring machine - cool!
Summary - This is a proper local with lots of regulars - perfect if you want to watch the football. Don't expect anything special in terms of beer or food.
