Pity about this place. Last time I was here it was a nice comfortable hotel lounge bar. They have now tried to turn it into some kind of trendy wine bar, which is totally out of keeping with the character of the building. Soulless.

popped back for some dinner and fornication. Well the place was heaving. Shoppers, business types and all sorts. It has clearly become the place to meet on a Friday evening. Free Wifi means techie types doing email with a small glass of Chardonnay on a high seat and table - makes a change from the cloth cap and half a mild I suppose. Beer is unchallenging still but the food has improved a bit, in fact quite a lot. Had to leave early and they made an effort to get me some breakfast. Yes, not bad.

A Bar eaterie with much sentimental attachment now! Met someone for lunch, which became, tea, wich became dinner, which became breakfast, which became engaged to be married! Wine and service exceptional, food OK ish. Beer Boring. None the less a memorable visit and a return most likely.

Not a drinkers destination - except for good-size measures of wine. Has benefit of free city-centre parking and an excellent-value lunch menu which takes some beating.

Food OK, I think, and reasonably priced. Wine overpriced and 'look' a little pretentious, but the staff make up for this.

The food here is dreadful.
The bar makes you feel out-of-place but the friendly staff do their best to dampen the stale atmosphere.

Used to be a wonderful hotel, now it's an overcrowded overhyped brasserie with mediocre food.
