White Swan, Walton on Trentback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Visited this pub as a group of ten adults and nine children, with the main intention being to order food, and due to the size of our group, I guess it proved a fair test for the kitchen staff.
The pub was busy and clean, if a little bit lacking in character. The food arrived within a reasonable time and overall was nice enough, if a little short in terms of the size of some of the meals offered, which spoilt matters in some cases.
As a pub however, which is how I rate on this site, the place was a little too orientated towards food, whilst the beer range was purely from the Marstons range (Pedigree and a brew from Wychwood), with no true guest ale being provided.
This is a good looking pub, with decent enough food, but not the best place if you want a genuine pub experience.

If you enjoy a meal out being patronised, shreked at, dictated to then you'll enjoy the White Swan in Walton. We arrived as a large group (11) so you think that they might look after us a bit more ? Well no. We ordered drinks ok but the drinks were much to be desired. Carling came with not head on as flat as a witches tit. After we took it back it was just top up and given back still flat. After returning it a second time we got a new one. The carvery which we decided to have looked ok yet when the member of staff arrived and broadcasted our options to everyone in the pub it to the edge off it a bit. Please not specify what you want at the start as my plated was filled first then asked second. The quality of the food was fine if you enjoy school dinners (I used to take sandwiches). Then came puddings which the menu stated from �3.25 - �350 but not priced each item, unlucky if you get the �350 one. To top of our event full meal it came down to paying. As I had to leave early I was going to pay for mine and a friend meal on my card, fine you might think but we were then informed. "You have to pay as a group as we didn't state that we wanted to pay on our own." Yet no where in the hold building does it state this. So in conclusion to my meal out. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK IN THIS PUB UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. GO TO ANY OTHER PUB IN THE WHOLE OF THE UK.

If so - stick a picture of this shambolic excuse for a pub on the front.
And then try the Shoulder of Mutton just down the road.

If you think what you have read above is bad you havn't seen baehind the scenes. I worked there for 6 months... a majority of the food is microwaved. what isn't microwaved is fried and then kept warm under a few lightbulbs until needed... which is why the chips are so rubbery.

The landlady of this pub was incredibly rude......there were no signs stating that you could only sit at table's with knives and forks on them if you were dining, we had just sat down at a table where there were only two other tables taken and she said in a very loud voice that we had to move if we werent eating, there were actually only 3 tables in the whole pub you could sit at if you werent having a meal, unless of course you wanted to sit outside.
When we left after only one drink the whole of the conservatory which had about 8 tables in it was empty, so they were hardly rushed off their feet with bookings. We are new to the area, we wont be going in there again..........

Well we got there at the proper time 2pm, bearing in mind on the menu is states, Sunday Lunch served all day, we were greeted with the words "I am sorry there are no roast meals left!" Whaaat???? We found out that they had sold out at 1pm.!! We were very disappointed and had to have the main menu, nice enough but NOT sunday lunch! Someone should look to their ordering, especially as people book. We won't be going again..The rating is for the food we had and in sympathy for the waiting staff who took the brunt of the complaints.

We went there last week. The None Smoking room looked a bit battered around the edges and could have done with a lick of paint, but the food was good though a long wait between courses. We don't mind if things have to be cooked fresh, but rhubarb crumble doesnt take long to heat? There were only a few tables occupied too as it was about 3pm so no big strain on the kitchen. My husband had to remind them about our drinks....saying all that we are going for Sunday Lunch and have asked for a table in the conservatory so ....watch this space!

Went here the other day and the food was okay and reasonably priced. The staff, however, were incompetent. Three of them gathered around the till for several minutes trying to work out how to work out the difference between a decaf and normal coffee, letting a queue build up. They were also playing the music tape BACKWARDS over the pub's PA system. I waited to see how long it took them to notice. they still hadn't after 45 minutes and I just had to mention it or face permanent madness... Nice beer garden and plenty of parking, though.
