Great pub! Staff polite and friendly made to feel so welcome, great atmosphere, punters friendly-food excellent-would definately be my local if I lived in the area.

Traditional old boozer on the main Hotwells road, which seems to have retained its original features such as plenty of wood panelling and not felt the urge to have some sort of a fancy makeover. Its a popular pub, particularly with rugby fans, and theres much rugby memorabilia around the place such as balls above the bar, trophies and photographs.
The pubs on two levels with the higher bar having a couple of tables and a darts board. The lower bar had a plasma showing a football match (but not at an obtrusive volume fortunately) and theres a great topographical view of Bristol from 1887. You can spend ages looking at that trying to pick out landmarks.
Staff and punters seemed friendly. Beers on this occasion were Doom Bar, BOB and Courage Best. It looks as though Bombadier is usually on in place of the BOB as the pump clip was a hand-written sign. Ciders were Thatchers Gold, Gaymers Pear and Blackthorn.

Only doombar on the ale side of things, and the bthorn was a pricey 3 a pint. Plenty of better choices in the area(like rose of denmark) than here, 4/10
