Bishops Tavern, Bristolback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
A large and spacious pub near the arches, this was a Hogshead in a former life and bizarrely there is still a blackboard sat up on a shelf that says �Welcome to the Hogshead�. It�s got quite a contemporary feel to it with it�s chocolate brown and cream paintwork and has the appearance of being part of a big chain, presumably Greene King going on the beer selection.
The central area has wood flooring, and there is a smaller carpeted area up a couple of steps to the left and this has some cream wood panelling on the walls. Elsewhere is some exposed brick work and there is a pool table at the rear. Various plasma screens are dotted around.
Food menu looked to be extensive, and appears to be your typical mass produced pub grub. A curry smell permutated the pub on a recent Thursday evening visit, no doubt due to their Curry and a pint deal for �4.99. Most of the mains were around the �6 mark, and a blackboard listed various �Pub classics� such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Gammon & Egg, Fish & Chips, Roast Beef, lasagne, etc.
Beers on tap were Abbott Ale, Ruddles County, Bath�s Barnsey, GK IPA and GK Libertine. Ciders were Thatcher�s Gold, Stowford Press and Lilley�s Apple & Pear.

ok it might be a Greene king pub but the place could NOT be faulted! Opted for the lunchtime offer of any sandwich(had a massive chicken and bacon club),portion of chips and a pint all for �4.99,the food was excellent and the service from the barmaid was friendly and fast,will be sure to return 8/10

We tried the Bishops for lunch and had a bad experience. We will not return. The place is less than clean, the food poor and the staff disrespectful.

A soulless cavernous place - decor from Pubs R Us - with usual suspects ales on offer - G King, Abbot, Speckled Hen. The G King IPA served flat and far too cold. A place in need of a toilet cleaning rota as the gents had unflushed kazi's with evidence of unmissed targets covering the floor. And the place was nearly empty. A pub for people who don't like pubs. A Wetherspoons without the atmosphere. Appalling.

Not usually my sort of Pub . But that said i enjoyed my visit here , choice of 4 real ales nothing unusual ruddles county , old spec , gk ipa ,and abbot ale , friendly bar staff , very busy , although that may have been because of the cricket . Food that if tasted half as good as it smelt , must be gorgeous , would love to go back ,and have a meal . price of pint a shockingly Expensive �2.55 . can't wait to revisit .

A terrible establishment. Earlier this year I had to go here. My friend's beer was almost vinegar, and i ordered the only other available, to find it was on the turn also, but not as bad. I had a terrible stomach for two days afterwards. Shockingly bland atmosphere.
Avoid.

Fairly standard Greene King pub that was handy on the long walk to Bristol Rovers Memorial Stadium. Decent food but average Greene King beers, topped with a young male crowd with little interest in real beers.
