Unusual looking and good-sized pub, squeezed in to a residential street and completely surrounded by houses on all sides. The pub is covered in some interesting murals, both front and back, which is an interesting feature.
As you walk down the entrance stairs it feels like youre going in to some sort of club, with no view of the actual premises and the walls plastered in flyers for gigs. Once youre in the pub its a whole lot more conventional though, and quite pleasant. Lots of wood around the place, a darts board and an unusual card table. Theres a good-sized garden out the back with a BBQ, and a short menu chalked up on a board above the bar.
Clientele seemed fine on our visit, unlike the experience of some other posters. There was a wide age range present, from babies to OAPs. OK, there were a few alternative looking types at one table, but they were just enjoying their beer and not causing a problem to anyone. Having said that, we were there early on a Wednesday evening, it may be different late at night.
Beers on this occasion were Gem, Tribute and Abbot Ale. The cider was Thatchers Gold. This seems to be a decent community pub, well worth a visit if youre in the area.

Having been under new management for some months now, the Cadbury has been cleaned up and is now well worth a visit again.
We have a fine and reasonably priced menu of delicious home-cooked food from two well-known Bristol chefs, and good selection of beers, ciders and spirits.
Our award winning Sunday Reggae 'n' Roasts (7.50) are fast becoming legendary.
When the weather's good, we have a nice beer garden for outside drinking & dining; if not we have an excellent covered heated area with tables, benches and a few warm and comfortable sofas.
Good Food, Good Beer, Great Atmosphere

My local but tend to avoid due to many of the issues listed by other reviewers. Pub 'garden' develops an air of menace at times it ain't just the alcohol. No need for the aggressive posturing.
Can be friendlier inside.
Hillgrove Porter Stores/Hare on the Hill are better boozers.

They do some good ales, but the atmosphere is not fantastic - too many braying trustafarians. Has also been a really smoky pub so not sure how it will fare with the ban.

This used to be an essential pub to visit and part of the classic Montpelier pub crawl. Sadly the character of the place seems have disappeared. Pinball, Space Invaders and the legendary jukebox now gone. Last time I was there the place was full of white middle class rude boys wearing hoods, dub music was blasting out and there was a distinct odour of what I believe is known as 'skunk' pervading the atmosphere. Shame.

Can be very friendly if you dont mind listening to the incoherent ramblings of a stoned student.
Still one of the best 'alternative' pubs in Bristol although the jukey is not as good as it used to be - and all the old games have gone - shame.

Nice garden, which is great in the summer if you don't mind the occasional whiff od a 'jazz' cigarette.
Serves Doom Bar, Gem, Thatchers Gold, Kronenbourg - Regular and Blanc, and does cheaper 4 pint jugs, it's a lively place that does pretty good late license parties once every couple of months with some decent DJs turning out in support.

Has lost it's allure somewhat in recent times as much better places such as The Croft, Pipe & Slippers have opened - although it's garden is it's saving grace.
Unfortunately the last time I went it seemed to be populated with trusafarians trying to act poor/hard. Stay off the k quentin it's not a good look. ;p
If you can find a spot in the garden away from such types it can be pleasant enough in the sunshine. Does Thatchers gold.
Bring back the Space Invaders!

Lovely boozer, customers are friendly so really nice atmosphere as long as you don't sit near the bar; bar staff are surly, arrogant and slow. Food is great though, biiiiiig portions, freshly cooked by lovely chef who will give you extra if you ask him for it!

Tucked away in the backstreets behind Montpelier station, the Cadbury House is definately something special. Cosy rambling rooms inside, with a large lawn out back and a pool table. People just sit on the grass in summer months. Good beers too.
Used to have an interesting collection of working old pinball machines and 2p slot machines (the type where a little ball whizzes round a spiral and if you're really lucky you might just win 4p back), sadly these have gone but remains a really quality pub.
