Drove past it the other day - being converted into flats. Boo.

Massive, high ceilinged, cavernous pub... Which was empty! Now, I'm not a big fan of gastropubs, but its the sort of pub which if it was in another area of Bristol it would of been gastrofied by now. Which could be an avenue they should go down, because if its this busy all week it wont last much longer. Courage Best was the ale on but I went for safety and plumped for the Thatchers Gold.

Wow! I've never experienced anything quite like this. Saturday night, and there are 4 people in there (all the other pubs on our pub walkabout have been full). Beautiful pub building, massive bar room - but no one there. My intellect therefore said go for guinness - which was fine. Odd experience. 2/10.

The spelling of D_Pangloss strikes again "for any rason other than desparation" What happened to your slanderous pointless crap of The Royal Oak ?

A large imposing pub but otherwise very ordinary and not worth the effort of going there for any rason other than desparation.

what a fantastic building.. shame about the inside.. what a hole! They have a massive (MASSIVE) beer garden that is not in use around the back (i saw if from the air balloon doctors).. waste really

Been here about half dozen times over the years, pleasant landlady, but the pub is a bit ordinary. Not a bad pint of Bass but not a patch on the Phoenix in St Judes.
