Pub has been closed for nearly 2 weeks now. Some locals have said the landlord/lady are having a break. I think this is quite poor and no way to run a pub.

I have been visiting the Kings Arms quite regularly since it reopened. The interior is clean and tidy and has several real ales on tap. I tried the Courage and Tribute both good. New years eve was a fancy dress Gatsby night, which seemed very popular. The new owners seem to be making a good effort to put on regular entertainment and run a friendly local pub.

9:30pm on New Years Eve there were 12 customers!

One of only two pubs left in the village now with both The Hollybush and The White Hart having closed in recent years, I have always quite liked this pub and it strikes me as a cosy place with quite a country pub feel to it, no doubt due to the fact that much of the interior is exposed stone walls. It has had a chequered history of late being closed for some time, and although now re-open there is a To Let sign outside, so it’s looks as though the future may still be uncertain.
It consists of two rooms, the rear one has the exposed stonework all the way round and also has the bar counter. This is quite a small room with a mostly carpeted floor and some slate tiles nearer the bar along with a large fireplace, although this was not in use on a recent visit. The front room doesn’t have quite the same cosiness with just the partition wall to the other bar being bare stone. Elsewhere there was a mixture of pale grey wood panelling on the lower part of the walls and rough cream plasterwork above with some black gloss wood detailing. A darts board was on the wall and there was a projector screen rolled up, although whether this gets any use I am not sure. A very small snug was off to one side which in reality looked to be more of a cupboard and there was what appeared to be a wood burning stove in a chimney recess but was I suspect a gas model. There is apparently also a beer garden although we did not investigate this.
Beers on tap were Courage Best, Doom Bar and Wickwar’s Bob. Ciders were well represented with Stowford Press, Blackthorn, Thatcher’s Traditional and Thatcher’s Gold, although the latter was past it’s best unfortunately.

Unfortunately, the Kings Arms closed on Monday 26th August. There is an Enterprise Inns sign outside advertising the pub "To Let". The Pilgrim Inn just up the road remains open, but opening hours are somewhat hit or miss!
To be confirmed, but locals say the Kings Arms closed Sunday 25th August. Uncertain Future!
Enterprise Inns sign appeared on the outside wall this week saying the KA lease is up for grabs. £9,500 in-goings and £26,000 PA rent.
Popped in to the KA today and found a very nice pint of Courage Best @ £2.90. Not too busy for a Tuesday at 2pm, but a warm pub on a cold March day!
Still open, unlike the Pilgrim Inn, making this the last remaining pub in Brislington Village. IN SHORT, USE IT OR LOSE IT!
Like Talbot Hill says... Lost the plot here!
Went in today and was somewhat gob-smacked to be charger 3.00 for a pint of Taunton Traditional. Locally, it's 2.10 at the Sandringham!
The Kings is simply the best pub in briz... bryan an jan are great hosts and always make you feel welcome. the real ales are well kept and when they do food it is always good quality... I would recommend this pub to anyone (under 6ft 6)

this is a very friendly pub with a good standard of beer. all the bar staff are great n very friendly. i live locally and when they have live music it is not too loud and from what ive herd of it a very good standard.
ps dry blackthorn rules !!!

Plenty punters were in and a good pint of Yeovil Ale (still 2.65) was served by a pleasant young serving wench. Much conversation was going on although Blue Oyster Cult and Earth wind and fire were coming from the speakers at a moderate volume-it made for a nice ambiance. The overpowering energy saving light bulbs need shades but in spite of that its easy to see where's the winner in this village!
Festival Emerald ale was very good here last week. Barwoman(different one from previous) was friendly.
Bit better this time with Cheddar Gorge Best on at 2.65 and of good quality. Friendly barwoman who started pouring Courage Best in error but offered no complaint when i pointed out the error and actually had a laugh about it. Yes,a bit better.
Can't figure out when this place opens? Went in for a pint in the afternoon and the Aussie woman behind the bar didn't seem too bothered whether I was there or not.
Probably a "Local Pub for Local People"? Ahem!
Doom Bar now available at the Bloomfield Inn as well...
Only Best and Doombar on when I visited despite Bombardier bunting and Butcombe signs. Doom was good though at 2.50. Unwelcoming barwoman, who despite noticing me waiting, still carried on counting her till. Overly loud quizmistress just brought a poor visit to its pinnacle. Overall this pub could not be recommended by this reviewer.

The Kings Arms is the smallest of what were the four pubs in Brislington village and thankfully has not changed too much in the last thirty odd years. The selection of beer is now fairly good and reasonably priced. Live music and quiz nights draw people in as well. The only negative point is that if you are over six feet tall, then this is the place to get a stiff neck. (Mind your head!)

I moved to Brislington about 4 years ago and tried this pub several times. Each time, I vowed never to return but did just every few months see if things ever got better. Suddenly they did! A new landlord & landlady took over (both very friendly), improved the beers, and got rid of all the troublesome oiks. They've improved the seating area outside also, though one still has to put up with the A4 traffic noise but still nice in summer.

The Kings Arms is a beautiful old traditional inn with all you would expect from a 17th Century (reputedly haunted) pub - thick stone walls and fireplaces, oak beams and lots of cosy nooks and crannies. A lovely beer garden awaits the spring and summer months. A good range of Cask Ales - Courage Best, Bath Gem, Bristol beer factory No. 7 and weekly Guest Ales as well as a good variety of lagers, ciders, wines, spirits, ports and non-alcoholic options.
