a proper pub, family run, not a chain, who remembered us after just two visits. Good cellar, nice staff. A 'local' as it should be

Brilliant pub, brilliant ale, nice to see a selection of sandwiches and pies now and bbq's on bank holidays are fantastic. In general a great pub keep it up

A great example of a standard British pub, its not specialist or niche it doesn't have a gastro or guardianista handle -its simply on target like one of the great pints of regular bitter it serves.

The best Orpington pub by a distance. Tucked away and better for it. I enjoy a pint of Adnams and was welcome enough. Don't want to damn with faint praise it really is a nice little pub.

Had a bit of a spruce up with new fittings & now serves a decent, well-priced selection of snacks & pub grub lunchtimes from 12-2:30. Closes at 3pm weekdays then reopens at 5:00. The sheltered, secluded back garden really does get baking on a sunny afternoon. Still serving 6X & the Adnams beers with a turned around pump clip a telltale sign that Bombabier had recently been on. Ale still pretty well-kept & prices have not risen in two years.

Very nice beer garden - well worth a visit in the summer. Beer was ok, but I'm not a big fan of either Adnams or 6X. Certainly the nicest pub I found in Orpington.

Beer still great but the pub is not as good as it was as the inside is starting to get a bit tatty.
The gents is falling to bits and the place needs a bit of a spruce up.
However still the best in the area by miles.

Out of the way of the main bit of Orpington in a quiet area. Friendly local place and a shaded garden to relax in. Beer is a bit on the expensive side, but I guess that's what you pay for a laid back and friendly environment with well kept ale, including 6X and Broadside. Great on a sunny afternoon. Highly recommended.

A fine all rounder and all the better for being a bit out of the way.
Has a family room so can take the nippers along.
One of the top boozers in the area

You may need to be something of an orienteer to find this place. Tucked away behind the one-way system near Orpington High Street & Perry Hall Lane, looks small from the outside but stretches back quite a way with a seperate function room/restaurant. Friendly & welcoming staff although no food served at lunchtimes, which is a shame. Due to its stealth location, the Cricketers stays pretty quiet during the day but there is a lovely green back garden with a sheltered canopy, or tables in the open for the more discerning sunseeker. Well maintained Adnams Bitter & Broadside sit alongside a terrific pint of Wadworth's 6X but at around 2.70 a pop this is one of the dearest pubs I've visited in the borough. Nothing too exciting but a perfect place to chill out & get away from it all for an hour.
