please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Interesting location, don't think I would want a pub right no my doorstep like this if I lived here. Was chucking it down when we arrived so good to get out the rain. Hydes pub, good selection of ales. Seemed busy even for 4:30pm on a Thursday.

If any of the below posters are still interested there is also a bowling green at the Quarry Bank in Timperley, as well as the already mentioned Red Lion.

Decent ales, plenty of seating outside at the back around the bowling green. Well worth the walk!

Yes must agree with other reviews about this gem of a pub. Very cosy, well kept ales and people behind the bar who actually smile and bid you a warm welcome. Why are these establishments so few and far between?

The bowling green adds to the charm!

This is a great pub on a lovely street - a hidden gem.

Great staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

To anyone who cares about these things- there is another local pub with a bowling green attached - The Red Lion in Withington, about 2 miles away.

1930's period building with many original features and furnishings. The 2010 GBG describes the bowling green to the rear as a rare feature.I am not implying unique, but where are the others? I would love to know.

Deservedly on the national inventory

Busy vibrant crowd of locals enjoying a wide range of Hyde's beers, the guests being London pride and roosters on my visit.

Go for the building alone. If you like Hyde's beers it's a bonus.

A must on any visit to Stockport and in Michelin star terms "worth a detour"

Well, the John Bonser roadshow has reached a pub that no one else has for some time.

The Nursery Inn is a fine traditional multi roomed -unspoilt Hydes pub a few miles outside Stockport just off the road to Didsbury.

Its wood pannelled 1930's interior earns it a place in CAMRA's National Inventory of Unspoilt Interiors.

Hydes is not my favourite beer by a long chalk - but the Mild was an enjoyable pint

The real highlight of the pub is its own crown green bowling green at the rear - I dont think I've ever visited a pub with one before - brings a whole new meaning to "pub games" !

Worth seeking out - you can get the bus from Stockport
