Situated in the middle of Bookham, it has fair sized lounge with leather sofas at the far end. It has mostly wooden floors which gives it a rather austere appearance. Seating is reasonably comfortable but is plain. The bar which is on the right hand side of the lounge has 3 hand pumps but only 1 beer available, Fullers London Pride which could have been colder. Pub looks rather rundown and shabby so could do with a major refurbishment. The food is reasonably priced but wasn't tried. There is also a large garden and patio area at the back.

New management who seem to be trying hard. Less swearing (certainly from behind the bar) and a guest ale at 3.10 (or it might have been 3.15) was very good for the price.
Still a bit bright, and too many TVs for my liking (one is too many for me, but everyone to their own). Dedicated pool/darts room (as before) if that's what you favour.
I wish them luck.

Never been any good since Bill and Eddie managed it. Recent management change, but it's still just a place where you go to get drunk.

not an ale drinkers pub but OK for the football

be careful when leaving comments on this site as you tend to get emails from the manager accusing you of being other pub managers and generally being quite strange! Jon.G.

The pub leaves a lot to be desired. Has the atmosphere of a circus with plenty of clowns.

Mush must move! Known for his sharp tongue, huge gut and crude 'wit', the overbearing manager's attitude has become unbearable since the smoking ban. As a long standing customer I have had to endure his blind arrogance for far too long. To be told what's what by an ignorant 'scotch bottle jockey' is a bit too much...
The other staff are nice enough and there's a good pint to be had, but the management style is not for the feint of heart.
This is a pub that I couldn't recommend, but just over the road is a much better pub - the Royal Oak. Give it a try, it has good reviews here.

Nice building, good refurb and a good landlord, but a terrible manager... His behaviour to customers and 'friends' alike, leaves a sour taste in your mouth. A tiny-minded bully with an over-inflated ego. Just humour him and watch his beer gut in awe. I swear it's a co-joined twin in there somewhere... All together now - "He ain't heavy, he's my brother.."

This so called pub is the worst I have visited in many years. It had the most hostile welcome from a manager with no idea about customer relations serving sub standard London Pride. A pub never to visited again.
|
Decor truely extraordinary. Nothing can prepare you for the appalling quality of the paintwork and joinery. Don't lean on anything in case it collapses. London Pride good, coffee excellent.

As Matt said, looks different, feels the same. If it was anywhere else it would be full of trensy young people, but it is just full of the same people as before. It's bloody weird

Quite nice since the much needed refurb, but is still frequented by a bunch of tossers.

Recently re done as a trendy wine bar. However none of the punters have changed. This now makes a very odd contrast. Will see what I mean when you visit.
