Returned to this establishment early on a Saturday evening. It is now called the Free Haus and is owned by the Brighton Bier Company. 4 cask ales were on - Brighton Bier West Pier & South Coast IPA, Franklin's Eclipse & Harbour Cornish Bitter. There is also a much-improved craft beer range and they now stock many ciders. The cider selection was Kentish Pip Skylark, Vintage Pip & Craftsman, Purbeck Muddy Scamp, Heck's Farmhouse Dry & Ascension Can I Play With Mangoes, Whispers In The Shadows & Prodigal Son. The interior has not changed much from my last visit. But, the drinks range certainly has improved. One to return to again one day.

Backstreet pub set over a couple of floors. The ground floor bar was the main drinking area and had a nice atmosphere. There are a few more tables and a grabbing machine downstairs. Well we were at the seaside! Ales on our December Saturday visit were Firebird Parody Session IPA, Gun Strong Pale & Red Ale. The real cider was Weston's Hand Brake. Nice place.

Good beer at very reasonable prices and the thai food is good but not outstanding. Plenty of space and there is a garden as well.

I have now stopped using this place, they have a new barman that is so rude he makes the place unbearable, shame really as I used to like the place, never mind, there are plenty of others in this twin town of Brighton & Hove.

I visited this place after reading a good review in a newspaper article about the closing of The London Unity. I was very pleasantly surprised, the last time I tried to use the place, it was a dying wine bar, but now has 5 different changing beers, out of a list of about 60, all served in their season sometime during the year, all under 3 pound a pint, and all in excellent condition, the barstaff very friendly and helpful, with competition like this, it's no wonder the Unity is closing.

Only started using this place a short while ago, very pleased with the friendly staff, they all make you very welcome, and the beer, must be amongst the best kept I've tasted for a very long time, the pipes are cleaned, not just rinsed, between barrels, and not as most in the area will say "I wash the pipes once a week, whether they need it or not" I'm told that the beers might go up by 20p per pint next month (February or March), this will still leave all ales below 3.

Part of the new enormo-family that seems to be taking over Brighton one pub at a time. Not necessarily a bad thing as they hold a really good selection of belgian and other beers as well as a more interesting range of lagers (yes I used the 'l' word on bite) than most. Excellent thai food and the usual upmarket but traditional decor we have come to expect.

Why Why Why do you have Thai food in an english pub???????? if you want thai go to a thai restaurant.. stop taking the englishness out of local pubs please...... x

Really like the atmosphere and beer here but decor is a bit odd. Good selection of well kept beers which change regularly. Dark Star supporters. Owned by same people as the Hanover gastro pub up Queens Park road. Well worth a visit

Called in on Saturday, first time visitor to pub, we were only customers early afternoon would expect to be livelier in evenings. Friendly barmaid, had pint of Dark Star Mild which was on good form.

This is a sad case of an attractive, well run pub being wasted by new management. The new interior decoration is truly frightening and really seems to turn people off.

Not a new pub at all! first licenced in 1863 as the reservoir tavern due to it sharing the locale with the underground reservoir (opposite the constant service) Had a brief spell offering sunbeds with your pint in the 80's! A good made-over pub/bar offering Harveys best and a guest ale(summerlightning at time of visit) both superbly kept. And a good range of continental lagers. A gem of a pub in an area of once wonderful inn's now sadly lost or butcherd!

Soulless, polished pine and leather sofas hell hole. Never visit if you like a little ambience...

Excellent pub which benefits from being tucked away - the effort to get there is rewarded & protects it from the hoardes.

Quite a new pub. It's tucked away in the Hanover side streets, which is a bit of a shame because it's rather good! Polite staff, good food and drink, and spacious surroundings all add up to something worthwhile. To be blunt, The Reservoir puts to shame some of the older pubs in this part of Brighton. I hope it survives and prospers.
