The Hanover was another pub we visited in the Hanover area of Brighton. It had a decent array of ales - Cellar Head Cinnamon Porter, Holler Boys Fog Cutter, Greyhound Blonde Bird, Sharp's Doom Bar & Gun Scaramanga. The cider was Old Rosie. It's a fairly large pub stretching either side of a reasonably long bar. A little out of town. But worthy of a trip.

Large family pub but also very friendly with good bar staff. Popular for food.

When, oh when, are barstaff going to get over the idea that deafening music will make people drink more. Four of us visited the pub, it was empty, and the music so loud that we had to point at the beers that we wanted, when we yelled at him to try to get it down, he replied that the customers liked it like that, the fact that we pointed at an empty pub was lost on him.,

Overall this is a decent pub with very nice staff and fine selection of local ales (Langham, Dark Star, 1648 etc) at very good prices.
The food is OK too - nice stone-baked pizzas (though I find they can sometimes be under-cooked) and the roast is pretty good, though a bit thin on the meat side I find.
However, this pub should be re-named "The Crèche". I know that pubs need to make a special effort to welcome families but it has gone to an extreme at this boozer. Sundays are naturally the worst - you will find at least 20 young kids quite literally running about screaming when you visit. Early evenings on many weekdays are just as bad.
If you can stomach the screaming kids, I would reccommend this pub.

Noisy and pricey. Keen staff. What's with the glass tankards? Odd gimmick.

Called in on Saturday, food orientated pub, but pleasant surroundings and a choice of 4 Sussex Ales. I had Arundel Gold which was excellent. Bit pricier than Bib & Tucker but would definately go back.

All in all a decent pub with a selection of drinks that can't be faulted, (especially good are the 3+ rotating guest ales, often courtesy of the ever more popular dark star brewery, and the choice of single malts).
service is for the most part excellent, however the pub loses a few marks for a slight lack of atmospere

Would be quite nice, but something a bit confused in the target maket and decor. With a few changes it could be brilliant, worth another check in a few months to see if it has got any better, but for now, best to avoid.

Modernised pub which has tried to become a cross between a stylish bar and a pub (lots of sofas but a pool table in the bar). Friendly bar staff and good service. Usually three real ales on which are well kept (my Taylors Landlord was very good). Food looks quite good but we did not try it. Nicely landscaped courtyard garden. If you just want a traditional pub then this is not for you, but if you want a good pint in clean friendly surroundings then this is well worth a try.

winebaresque student hangout.

Nice, friendly, fairly modernised pub. Decent roast on a Sunday.
Normally fairly busy, but has enough room to cope generally.
Pool table by the bar.
Often gives over a Saturday night to local DJ's so might be worth checking first if you're just after a quiet one.

lurid paint job.

Lovely friendly pub, nice bar staff, nice food, nice garden, only down side is that the garden doesn't get the sun in the evening, it's overshaodowed by the pub itself. There's a fair sized room that's available for hire as well, so all in all a pleasant place to drop into
