Not as good as you may expect. Ok beers but often warm, not cool.

Not a bad pub with ok but expensive beer from Fullars, Youngs etc. Worth a look if passing, but don't go out of your way.

Went to this pub at 18.30 tonight. I'd read previous review so assumed I could have a pint in a chav free environment. I struggled with a warm pint of Harveys and had to leave half in the end. Chavs can be any age Bisley and this pub had plenty of them aged 50+. I won't be rushing back.

This is a top class pub right in the middle of town - yet neatly tucked away (a good thing insofar as it doesn't attract hordes of chavs). Does a steady trade both day and night. A good selection of ales, Landlord and HSB among them and the food is both hearty and filling. Very generous portions and good value with a varied specials board. Traditionally decorated, with ceiling beams, litho prints and horse brasses but don't let that fool you into thinking "old man's pub" as the pleasant, agreeable clientele range from 21 upwards. Out the back is a small, but pleasant sheltered garden - be advised it does get very busy, especially on a breezy night with the smokers as its nicely canopied and fully heated. Events include Jazz night on a Monday - now I'm not a huge jazz fan, but I recognise talent when I hear it, and this is probably one of the best Jazz nights I've been to. There's a music quiz on a Sunday night for which you'll need pretty good musical knowledge, and a general knowledge quiz on a Wednesday - there's been some really oddball (a la QI) rounds in this one, so well worth a shot as even if you don't win, you're likely to come away with a truly odd snippet of information to bemuse friends!
All in all, a great pub either for a short lunch or evening out, and the central location can make it a good relaxed start if you're out a bit of a tour.

We've been looking for a 'proper' local since we moved to Worthing, and now we've found it - although it was a quiet night when we visited, the atmosphere was excellent, the staff pleasant, and the menu looks good enough for us to come back for a meal. A lovely, traditional pub. So glad we dropped in.

A wonderful find in the heart of the Town Centre - a real oldy worldy pub.
Staff friendly and efficient. Had a lovely pub lunch. The food was tasty and hot and the waitress attentive.
Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.

the only good pub left in worthing. nice people good range of beer.unfortunately the food is not great but its very well priced and the portions are big. a very good, well heated smoking area helps it a lot. really good live entertainment all week as well.

Always liked this pub - how a pub should be and one of the only if not the only traditional pub in a sea of chain bars that is Worthing town centre.
|
This is the best pub in the town if your over 25. Too much jazz on for me but lots of people clearly like it as those evenings are popular. Very old pub that has been extended, very good food at reasonable prices and a landlord that does remove anyone that is causing a problem thus allowing the silent majority to enjoy themselves. No wonder the place is always busy.

Good selection of beers. HSB was top notch. Lots of wood panelling, with more traditional atmosphere. Friendly barman. Mix of young and old, so not for the All Bar One crowd. Probably the best pub within walking distance of the town centre.
