I have to say well done to Wilf and Louise for bringing this pub back to life once again from it's Janet and Graham days, but did we think anything else with Wilf being Janet's brother? Definitely not. Well done Wilf and Louise, keep up the good work xxx

I echo minimojo's comments.

new tenants and ones who seem to care too...... we will see what happens with time.....

Open again!

Shut again!

Full of drunks on my weekend vist. One guy was stood in the main room playing the air guitar and knocking stools over, no intervention from the managment. The IPA was pretty good but our party left commenting nothing much has changed. They really need to nip this sort of thing in the bud if they want to clean the pub up, I can't see it lasting long otherwise
At last, a pub that Horwich can be proud of. Great beer, including Theakstons and Deuchars IPA. More guest beers to follow. Aiming towards attracting an older crowd including locals, walkers and bikers. The good news is that the pool table and thumping dance tunes have gone, and with them the yobs that used to frequent this place. This pub could be eveything the old Toll Bar used to be before it started going downhill ten years ago. Best of luck.

Still shut as of March 2009
The latest application for licence renewal has been turned down, so it is said. Good news or bad? Would you want the ex customers of this notorious watering hole turning up in your pub? NO, neither would I.
Just hope they don't get in to other pubs & cause the trouble they caused here - The landlady looked for a short term gain & took the attitude that as long as the money was coming in she was happy, she then jumped before she was pushed.
Yob clientele and could not care less managment have ensured this pub is shut yet again.
More trouble tonight.Do those in charge have any idea how to control the ghastly customers?Answer-definitely not.Looks okay from the outside but don't be fooled.Frequented by low-life,& the Police who are called regularly to this dump.
Now re-open but does anyone really care? If the hoards of drunken chavs don't put you off then the rent a thug doormen will.
SHUT AGAIN

Nice inside since been done up. Bit quiet but nice and cosy, staff pleasant. regulars are a laugh watching cricket and football. horse racing a must have. beer prices alrite not to dear like the bridge. fri and sat nites getting busier i rate this pub age group 20's to 50's.
Used to be a great pub (however that was many years ago) but wentin very recentlyand amazed at how things have altered. Very quiet, even for a Sunday
This pub has the potential to be really good with no changes to the structure or even the decor. Somebody new running the pub with a different target clientele would be a good start. This pub is a real missed opportunity.

Oh dear oh dear, what a waste of what used to be an excellent pub. I would give up now to save the embarrassment of being kicked out by the brewery!!!
If your not in the "click" don't bother with this pub.

it used to be packed on Friday and Saturday nights back in the days of Janet and Graham. I now choose to drink elsewhere where there is a good atmosphere and music that can be played after 10.30pm!!! You would think that the new landlady would sort this out but she is more interested in drinking than sorting anything out to do with the pub!!!
Could he be the same guy who sits at the bar in the Old Original Bay Horse? See OOBH comments.
second visit in two days, still lots of kids. What happened to the MR T character who used to go in? The one who use to stand at the bar and swear every other word( and quite loudly )and generally upset everyone. Maybe he's been barred, start of a clamp down to try and attract some of it's ex customers perhaps?????? Still a good pint of cask to be had, shame about the creche.
Very much a young pub now, young landlady and landlord and lots of kids running around when I visited. Yes there is bad language but isn't that the case all over now? Good pint of cask beer, local I think. Plenty of room outside for whn the sun shines.
The pub looks much better now all the hidious white paint has been removed from the outside but little has changed inside, it still has the same lazy halfwitted staff and yob clientele
Looks a lot better from the outside but little change inside. A missed opportunity.
Currently closed for refurbishment. May re-emerge as the excellent pub that it could be....but somehow I doubt it.....
Was a great pub in the days of Don and Eve but since its football themed re-fit it has become a Mecca for work shy yobs and "did you spill my pint" merchants.
A missed opportunity. Could be really good, instead aims for the young chavs and slappers. There are more tracksuits on show in here than in JJB sports! This could be an excellent pub with the application of a bit of flair and intelligence. Instead it settles for the lowest common denominator.
Another let down!! Full of foul mouthed staff and yobs
